I looked this up & from what I’ve read, the sooner you treat it, the better. I say go take him to the vet asap. Looks like if the cat is treated soon enough, than the ear will be fine. If the ear is already cauliflowered than its probably going to stay that way & the ear has been infected for a few weeks already. Likey, the vet will need to cut into the ear & drain it & give him a shot of cortozone. So not something you can do, thou some websites say the ear will heal in a few weeks, the “cauliflower ear” will be permanent. That’s what I read online on a few different sites, but it is the inet & could be wrong, so go by what your vet suggests.

For future reference, if your kitty shakes his head a lot, or kinda holds it to 1 side, than check his ears & call your vet. If its swollen or dirty in the ear, something’s wrong. Is your kitty an indoor or outdoor cat?

Poor kitty :(. Hope he feels better soon!!

Can you try another vet and get your cat in earlier?

You might want to switch his food to California Natural. Its very healthy & is made with high quality ingredients & doesn’t have a huge ingrediant list & may help with his allergies. I know vets recommend Science Diet (I hear they do to cats with allergies), but it really is not good for your kitty. My dog has allergies & this worked (dog version) & my kittens were reacting to something in a different high quality food so I switched them to that too.

Sounds like it just happened so I would assume Paco & his ear will be just fine soon :). Keep us updated!!

I’m glad he was able to do it so quickly and that your kitty is doing well!
