Hahah! Captain Crunch FTW
My cat doesn't beg but the dog does. My cat sits beside me and watches me eat and the minute I put it down anywhere he runs to it to see if it's something he wants. He loves oatmeal and cereal a lot.
OMG. My cat does this too, and he's black with green eyes... maybe it's a "thing".
My cat Firefox does the same thing, she'll sit next to me waiting for me to finish and then she licks that bowl like crazy. My fiance tells me I'm teaching her bad habits.
My cat doesn't beg but she's sneaky. You look away for one second and your food is gone. I made chicken one night and my little 8 pound cat jumped up on the counter, removed the chicken from the skillet and ran away! Once I realized what happened it was too late.
If I'm eating cereal, our two cats will circle my chair like furry sharks, meowing and twitching their tails, until I offer them some (at which point, they turn up their noses and stalk off).
@Oneeleven: It's Kashi Golden Sunshine cereal. You just think it's bad for you ;)
@mandb122: He used to do this with subs too when I was in university. He LOVED the shredded lettuce. He's moved on to tastier things apparently ;) But I taught him to sit and be patient and then he'd get a treat if he used his patience, so now he does this every meal. LOL!

Bahahaha that is adorable! Your cat is way more polite than mine. My little kitten just sticks her face right in whatever it is I'm eating. Last night it was pasta and before I could stop her she had sauce all over her face. Uhggggghhhgh!
@bakerella: They are! Sometimes he even falls asleep while waiting for me to finish. SO HILARIOUS. Or he'll try and grab the bowl and pull it towards him if he gets impatient.
@june42011: LMAO! Our old cat Smee would steal chicken wings and run around with the little drumsticks in his mouth until you could catch him. It was so funny! The whole chicken is awesome :)
@bakerella: My cat LOVES lettuce. And I think he learned to just sit there because the dog is told no when he begs (he's a very pushy dog when it comes to food). Also, the very first night we had my cat, my husband was sitting down stirring some pudding and the cat walked up and flipped the bowl over onto his own head. He was in heaven!
so cute. my cats are not interested in milk or people food. i have a cat that is super curious and will investigate everything i eat but will walk away after smelling it. i have another cat that i tried getting on a raw food diet. she would sniff her bowl and say, "mommy, quit playing around. where's my chicken wellness?" i had a cat that i had to put down, she loved roast chicken.
My kitty Kimahri will always come over to see what we're eating.
Generally she's be content to sniff, maybe have a lick if there's any tasty sauce (when we have pasta, for example) but won't really want any.
However.
If there's noodles, cereal or boiled/scrambled eggs (her favourite) she isn't going anywhere until she's had some, if not all of it. If you ignore her, she gets IN the bowl, or on the plate and won't budge until she gets some. She's only 4 months old, so we're trying to train her not to... but she just loves eggs.
She also loves the smell of chocolate, but that's something she doesn't get because it's so bad for her.
Cute! One of my cats will come sit beside us, stare for a minute or two, and then start "waving" a paw at us, lifting it to about her head level then dropping it--almost like she's raising her hand.
She's a weird cat, she'll seriously eat anything.
i also want to add that my cats don't even recognize tuna as food. i hear my other friends talk about how their cats will come running into the kitchen when they hear a can of tuna being opened. when our other cat was sick, our vet suggested inticing her with canned tuna. i was very hesistant to introduce any of them to tuna. i don't even buy them food with fish because it's not a natural source of protein for them.
My parents' cat, Kilo, will eat anything. She wouldn't be sitting next to you purring, she'd be face-rubbing the bowl and trying to stick her head in. She pushes the dog out of the way and will eat the dog's food. Popcorn, cheetos, vegetables, ice cream... she even ate hot sauce once (and really regretted that one). My mom has her on super strict prescription diet but the cat refuses to lose weight!

@Aure: Peter gets in trouble if he pushes his way in, so I taught him to sit about a foot away and wait. He has good listening skills ;)

@bakerella: Kilo was about 2 when my parents got her. She's very stubborn and stuck in her ways. I wish she would learn... I mean, hot sauce? How dumb do you have to be as a cat? I can't imagine it smelled appetizing...
@bakerella: OMG my cat does the SAME THING, especially when we're eating ice cream!! Just last night FI and I were eating pasta and sauce and she jumped up on the stove (it wasn't hot anymore) and reached her little fuzzy paw into our pot of plain pasta and ate like 5 pieces of fettuccine. And last week she stole some acorn squash off my plate when I ran to the bathroom. Such a bad cat!!

Ahh Samson sits right next to me when I eat. (we don't have room for our dining room table, so we eat at the couch - bad newlyweds!). He will put his paw on my leg, like he's being cute, and the second I stop paying attention, he swipes food off of my plate.
DRIVES ME CRAZY!
Most of our dinner is spent with me saying 'Get down Samson' or 'That's MY food, Samson!'.

@Aure: lol. funny you say that, he's named after a famous skateboarder who's logo is a panther! I always cal him my little panther. His name is Natas (or Nat, for short/because my ex named him and i hate his guts so i had to alter the name a little), and the skateboarder is Natas Kaupas.
Mine does the same thing! She always thinks bowls and glasses have milk in them.
Ours begs too. He actually rolls over and sticks his feet in the air and "plays dead" like a dog. If we ignore him, he does it again--more dramatically. We joke that he's dying of starvation when he does it.
Aww well at least he has manners and waits until you are finished. My cat I grew up with would just stick her head in your bowl lol

My female pup gets right up next to you so that she can smell every bite you take. She never tries to steal the food but makes her desires quite obvious. I often her my FI from the living room "excuse me bug I'm trying to eat here." She isn't above climbing onto you directly either.
lol. My parents cats only like things in cups. And it is hillarious watching them try to drink out of them! They stick their entire head in and it is even mre funny when it gets stuck and they spill everything on themselves... then they get the dreaded bath.
Our pup is learning not to beg. She isn't allowed ANY human food unless we are 100% done eating and it is given to her in her food bowl. Period. When I do eat on the couch, she isn't allowed up here. I don't want her learning to beg. If she does, no food at all. We did find out she LOVES watermelon though! I mean seriously. L.O.V.E.S.... I dropped half of one on the floor and she vacuumed half od it up before I could stop her!
My cat does all of the above! lol He loves yogurt and cheezits. Anytime I have either of those, he sits on the table by my recliner and stares. And he's not a small boy. He also loves boxes and bags. Blurry photo:
My cat Felix looks just like yours. He talks to us when we're eating, we can actually have a conversation with him and he will meow back at us telling us his side of the story lol

My (black) cat Adelaide will eat ANYTHING too. (she even licks windows, tables and blankets (weirdo).
The other one, Gustave doesnt. He's just as crazy though.

Lol...I've got a black kitty too. Though she really doesn't eat anything except dry cat food. I can't even get her to eat the canned food. She is however obsessed with sniffing anything that I happen to be eating. Every once in a while she will try odd things (she loves greek salad dressing?) but only enough to get the taste. Very strange. Especially considering she weighs close to 21 lbs. (Before anyone gets on to me about how much I feed her: I feed her the amount recommended by her vet which amounts to 1/2 cup of dry food twice a day.)
My doggy doesn't beg. He ignores our food. I've left my plate of steak in the floor while i poured myself another drink and he never bothered it.

my cat thinks that she has to eat when we do, and at the TABLE with us..we try and try to keep her down and we even put food in her bowl..but she wants to be with the rest of the family....shes so spoiled lol

Peter likes to eat EVERYTHING and he's not above begging. This cat totally thinks he's people. This morning I decided to have cereal. What does he do? Sits in front of me, doesn't beg, just sits, and purrs loudly until I'm done and he can lick the last two drops of milk out of the bowl. Silly kitty. He does this ANY time he sees a bowl. I think if I had a full bowl of cereal and milk he'd eat the whole thing if I'd let him!!!
