So…I think I may have lost my cat 🙁 My roommate texted me a little while ago and asked “Where’s Oliver?” I was like…he’s supposed to be there, but he may have gotten shut in my room when I left for work. But by this time, she was already back in class and couldn’t check. So I panicked and took a short break from work, got to my apartment, and still couldn’t find him. I looked under beds, in closets, even in the dryer. Its possible he somehow went out the door with me this morning when I left for work…but I feel like I would have noticed him. Ugh! I’m so sad 🙁 His front paws are de-clawed and I’m a little worried about him being outside. Our apartment complex has a policy about not calling animal control, so I’m currently making flyers to put up later if I still can’t find him.
I get off work in an hour, but I won’t be home for a little while after that. My roommate will be home earlier than me, so she’s going to look again. Its just not like him to hide for THAT long, especially when I call his name and shake his food.

Oh, what a horrible feeling. Did you check to make sure he didn’t get trapped in a cabinet, dishwasher, etc.? Our cat once got trapped in a kitchen cabinet. She’d snuck in and we didn’t notice when we closed the door.
If you don’t find him soon, definitely check all the local shelters and bring them pics in case someone turns him in.

Oh no! I had a scare with my kitten last weekend, he was missing for 14 hours before he came out! I was panicked thinking he managed to sneak out of the house behind me, and he’s a strictly inside kitty, so he wouldn’t fare to well outdoors. It turns out he figured out a way to get inside the wall, and came wandering out like nothing had ever happened right before bedtime. I hope Oliver comes back soon!

Awww I really hope he is just hiding and being stubborn! That really is the worst feeling.
We have 2 cats, and my one cat went through a little phase where he thought it was fun to hide from me — even though I was frantically calling and searching for him all over the house! Turns out, he had chewed a hole in the lining under our boxspring, and was hiding out there.
Please keep us posted – I hope you find him!

Oh my gosh, what a terrifying feeling!!!! I really hope he was just holed up somewhere strange in the house and has come out by the time you get home!!!! Keep us updated! I would be so upset if one of my little furrballs went missing.

@Blueshoes2: I had a couple of cats that would play the hide-in-the-mattress game, too! Sneaky little suckers!
OP, good luck finding your kitty! He’s a gorgeous baby! And be sure and look in all types of weird places you think would be impossible for him to be in. Cats are notoriously crafty! I’ve had cats all my life, and found them in the strangest of places; places that were mind boggling. Think outside the box, and good luck! Keep us updated!

I would go ahead and call animal control to report him missing, just in case. He may have gotten out of your complex completely. I hope you find him! He looks adorable.

Awww…I know the feeling and it sucks! One of the teenagers in the neighborhood saw our cat outside and kept it for a night..so be sure to knock on all the doors in your complex…We got our cat back because a teen in our neighborhood posted our flyer on facebook. Good luck!

Good News!! As soon as I opened the door to my apartment, he ran directly up to me and started purring. I was like “DO NOT DO THAT TO ME AGAIN!!” lol I’m a preschool teacher and once for a few minutes, I thought I lost a kid (ahh..awful AWFUL feeling). She ended up being with another teacher, but I didn’t know it, so I freaked. Oliver reminded me of that experience…lol. Anyway, thanks for everyone’s assurances 🙂 I’m glad he was just being stubborn! We had a major cuddle-fest for awhile!

@JennBug89: Oh thank goodness!!! We had a party once and I couldn’t find one of our cats after and I was TERRIFIED he had snuck out the door with a guest. I searched EVERYWHERE for him. DH and a friend were looking for him, shaking treats, etc, up and down our road, all over the house…. After about an hour of me freaking out doesn’t DH go back into the bedroom, look under the bed (where I had already looked) and there he is?! Problem being the cat is black, our bedroom is dark even with the lights on, and he had his eyes closed, LOL!!!! I’ll never live that one down…
@MissHoneyBun: Sorry your kitty hasn’t been found yet. I’ll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you.
