I think it looks great!!!! That's actually very similar to what I'm thinking about doing - I love it!!
It sounds like you tried to post a photo, but it didn't post. Try again?
i love these types of flower arrangements- so very simple, natural and chic. I think with twine and wood table numbers it will be a really nice look! Good job!
I think the centerpieces look great...very summery and rustic/homey
I think they're adorable. I love the fruit slices in the vases.
Those are really pretty! I love the slices in the vases! You can also use burlap around the vases wrapped with twine...it'll give a more rustic feel too!
Very pretty! I love the idea and I think it looks great as you have it. I really like the fruit slices in the vases.
Aw I like these! They are super cheerful and super... what's the word... cute? But better than cute!
I'm so stealing your idea. These are awesome. And I second jingle96 on the burlap addition!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!! With the addition of the twine it will look great!!!!
Ooooh! I love them. I also really like how you put lemons and limes in the jars. Great idea. Good job!
I adore it!!! I am doing my own as well but your idea is so clever!
They look great.
Just a thought/suggestion, do you have another color you could incorporate besides the white/orange in the flowers? Maybe bring a little bit of yellow or lime green into the flowers to add a little bit more color balance.
I love the size variations, just enough to see the differences in the three, however, not too different that they don't look like they belong together.
They are GORGEOUS!!!
This is totally going in my notebook of random wedding ideas.
Very pretty! But one thing to keep in mind, the acid from the fruit in the water will make your flowers wilt pretty quickly (especially if you're trying to do them a day or two in advance), unless you have the water the flowers are in and the water the fruit is in separated. The juices also make the water cloudy, which you can see a little of in your inspiration picture.
My mom and I have been experimenting with this, and it's best to either 1) get a smaller vase to put inside the bigger ones, with the fruit sandwiched between (which doesn't look like it will work with this shape of vase), or 2) put a clear plastic cup inside the vase, with your flowers in the plastic cup. We tried both, and are going with the first option because it's easier with my square shorter vases, but #2 works well too, since the fruit covers the cup. Or if both of those are too hard, you can always just put the uncut limes or lemons in the water, if they're not cut the juice won't harm the flowers.
Thanks, bees! I'm so excited these got such a great reaction. I loved them too, but its nice to hear such great feedback.
@caszos - good suggestion with adding more color. I had wanted to use green hydrangeas, but my flower shop only had white in this weekend. When I do the real thing, I'll probably order from a website like fiftyflowers.com, and I'll definitely incorporate some green flowers!
@cola - i was worried about the acid too, which is why I did the mock-up. Your suggestions are great, but I think you're right...they probably won't work with my vases. For anyone interested in trying this idea, I found that the gerbera daisies held up beautifully (in fact, they were still gorgeous 5 days later when I finally disassembled and took the fruit out) but the hydrangeas started to wilt after about 12 hours. I'm pretty intent on using these eclectic jar vases, so what I plan to do is assemble everything a day or two before, leaving out the fruit. On the morning of the wedding, I have a lot of friends who are coming out to help with last-minute details, and I'm going to have them throw the fruit in each vase at that point. Then I'll be sure that my flowers will look nice at least through the reception. Hopefully the last-minute scrambling will be worth it!
Love love love LOVE this! So cute. Sometimes I wish this was my color scheme so I could do cute setups like this. :-)
I love the arrangement. I'm not doing rustic/vintage since we went in a different direction for the venue but this is perfect. I love the color scheme.
I love it! We are doing something similar...I'm just using large mason jars with white hydrangeas...but we are alternating flowers with jars with candles in them..but we also have long tables. I just love mason jars! Oh and milk bottles! We are using milk bottles with taller flowers (gladiolas) on the window sills of our venue...
It looks beautiful! We're doing mason jars too, probably with some dahlias and whatever's available at the farmer's market that day.
You could also cut the fruit ahead of time and let it dry out. You wouldn't notice once the fruit hit the water in the vase but it would take out some acidity. Just a suggestion. I love gerber daisies!
I'm doing mason jars also but no flowers...I am putting candles in them...maybe add a few of those to yours? I've also been collecting small jelly jars too, which might look cute with yours as little votives.
I think they're really cute! Love the color combo and the variation in height of the glass containers.
Very cute. We did a combo of mason jars with flowers and candles with rocks in the mason jars.
That looks great. Do the limes in the jars make the flowers wilt faster?
I love the candle suggestions - thanks! I think it would be really cute to do a couple of small jelly jars with votives - love it!
@fanatic888 - I appreciate your suggestion to dry out the fruit slices - I had not thought about that. I plan to do another trial run so I'll definitely give that a shot! It could help with acidity, but also, slicing the fruit was the most time intensive part of making these centerpieces, so being able to do that in advance would lessen the last-minute scrambling the morning of the wedding. Thanks! [PS - purdue fan? i went to notre dame...i'll forgive your allegiance given your helpful suggestion ;-)]
@MichelleMyBell - I think the limes did make them wilt faster - I found that the gerber daisies held up really really well (several days) while the hydrangeas started to wilt after about 12 hours. This would obviously be a problem if you plan to assemble things a few days in advance. I'm going to try drying out the fruit, and possibly try using those water gel bead things to see if that helps. I'll report back when I figure that out! If you assemble the arrangement just before the reception, it works just fine how I did it. Hope that helps!

Hey Hive!
Any thoughts on my centerpieces? This is my first run-through. We might not be able to afford doing this many flowers on every table, so I'm thinking about doing the large milk jar + 1 smaller mason jar on each table if I can't do all three. I'll also probably use green instead of white hydrangeas (the store only had white, but green is one of my wedding colors), and I'd use smaller gerbera daisies (again, all my floral shop had in stock) or dahlias for the orange flowers.
Will also use twine around the necks of the bottles, and my Father in Law is making wooden signs for table "numbers" (each table will be named after a place my FH and I have been together).
Opinions, critiques, or props would be immensely appreciated! Any other rustic / vintage brides out there?
