My wedding is 77 days away and was supposed to be at the church on my college campus. That is where I met my fiance, where he proposed, and where we had our engagement photos. Our colors for the wedding are even the school’s colors. They called yesterday and left a message saying that due to unexpected repairs, they can’t host our wedding.
The wedding is Catholic so we have to have it inside of a Catholic church. Most places are booked by now and have 6 month policies. I am so upset about this and while they said they’d refund the deposit we made, that’s not enough. We already printed all the invites, the direction cards, EVERYTHING.
The wedding is already on a very tight budget as we are paying for it ourselves. I can’t afford to get 120 new invitations kits and stamps and ugh….

I’m so sorry this happened to you! I would call and calmy explain that you’d like to be married outside near the church, elsewhere on school grounds, wherever they can accomodate you.
My understanding is that a Catholic priest can receive special permission to perform a marriage ceremony (or even a Mass) outside of a church building.
Given your connection to this church, I’m hopeful that they will be able to help.

Oh no! Can’t imagine how you are feeling. Perhaps if you call all the churches in the area there will be that one that is free for your day? Perhaps if you explain to them the circumstances they will overlook the six month policy?
Best of luck to you-I hope it all works out!

I’m so sorry! :(You said they left a message but have you talked to anyone at the church yet???
How “big” are the repairs? If it’s in another part of the church or something small maybe you can see if they will still let you have the ceremony there?
Do you still have any connections at the school that is directly connected to the church that can pull some strings?
If all else fails how about going on Vistaprint and making a free “business card” to mail out to your guests letting them know of a venue change. In this case I think a email + word of mouth will be totally appropriate!
Start calling other churches pronto, enlist the help of family, friends, coworkers (for referrals). There’s GOT to be ONE church in your area with a priest understanding enough to squeeze you in.
Best of luck!

Well, we emailed the president of the school whom we both know well enough. She is willing to assist us in any way possible, including allowing us to use other parts of the campus for our ceremony. She is even going to ask the engineering firm if an exception can be made for that day.
It may not work out but it is looking better already.
