My corset arrived, and my aunt is going to try to tighten it on me tonight. I’m very excited and hope it ends up cinching my waist a lot.
My dress is a drop waist gown, and then at the hips it poofs out a bit, so I’d like my waist to look as small as possible.
The only thing I find strange is that the “strings” to pull and tighten are rope! I thought they’d be satin.
Should I switch this to satin or is it OK for it to be rope? Im afraid it will be bulky..

satin might loosen up to much, what is the back of your gown like? if it laces up also you won’t see the bumps probably. you’d have to try it first.

the satin will stretch but i think for the one day it shouldn’t be too much of an issue, i’m glad u like it

@Butterbee:Oh that makes sense. I guess I’ll just see if its bulky on the 17th for my first fitting. 🙂

You can also use narrow twill tape (available at any fabric store) or an extra long shoe lace (or laces) to do up the back of you corset. Heavy cording does sound like it would be bulky under your gown.

@Ms. Pink Scrubs: Great idea, thanks. We’ll see how it goes during my fitting.
