I am ecstatic that my cupcake stand that I got from cupcaketree.com is finally done after weeks of working on it!!
I got the stand that holds 150-300 cupcakes. I first got some black plastic tablecloths from the dollar store to cover the pieces but since they are all folded up in the package, there were all these lines and kinks in it and it didn't look good at all. I tried ironing them on the lowest setting with a towel in between the iron and plastic tablecloth and it pretty much anihilated the cheap plastic. I then tried an "expensive" plastic tablecloth from Target and I ran into the same problem. I even tried laying the tablecloth out flat for a week (which did nothing) and then tried to blow dry the tablecloth with my hair dryer to heat it up to get the wrinkles out which, strangely enough, made more wrinkles.
So I got plain black wrapping paper from Party City and the damask wrapping paper is from Michaels. The paper flowers are from Ben Franklin's and the little stick on sequins on each flower are from Michaels as well. I spray painted the ends of each criss-cross tier piece so it wouldn't be obvious that it was cardboard underneath. Add in some tape and glue and there you have it.
I am so happy to be done with it I could cry, LOL!
