- Wedding: November 2015
This is my first ever post, but ive been browsing through weddingbee posts for the last few years prior to engagement. Im one of those brides who has been planning their wedding day since childhood haha. Anyway I just got engaged in July to my lovely boyfriend of 6 years and so the wedding planning begins. I have tried on several dresses but couldnt find everything that I wanted in one dress. My favourite has always been a Michael Cinco off shoulder dress that one of the lucky bees here got to wear as her dress, but unfortnunately $25000 is way more than what i want to spend. Next favourite coming in at AU$16000 is Vera Wang’s Hilary full lace mermaid (also more than my $5000 budget). But prior to trying Hilary on I was seriously considering Maggie Sottero’s Marianne. My only dislike about the dress was the bottom, its looks a bit stiff to me rather than the floaty tulle look I want.
So I discovered a very talented dress designer in Sydney who will be making my custom dress. We are combining the Marianne bodice with the bottom of one of her designs, with a few other tweaks such as off shoulder lace straps and some pearl beading. Its very nerve racking getting a dress that you can see and try on, so im writing this post for some reassurance I guess!
Here are pictures to try and illustrate the vision we are going for:
This is me in a dress similar to the Maggie to show my body shape (i wasnt allowed to take pictures at the Maggie salon).
This is up close of the maggie bodice and the back (i will be keeping the blush lining for my dress and having ivory lace over the top):
This is the bottom of the dress that we will be combining with the Maggie.
So im hoping it will look something like this:
Will add a Mantilla blusher like this and either a beaded belt or a blush grosgrain sash and then hopefully that will be amazing!
Oh and I have this head piece in mind (perhaps a bit OTT, but I am a bit that way and Im only planning to get married once 🙂
Thoughts? Advice? Please tell me its not going to be horrible haha!
