...with the bridesmaid dresses. We got plain black dresses from Davids Bridal and my dad thought that it would be pretty to add a panel to the back of the dress in our accent color (copper). I think I love it. How about you? They are detachable so the ladies will still have a black dress when all is said and done.

Pic 1: the back of the dress before my dad got to it ;) (there's a bow that ties on the back)

Pic 2: the dress from the website

Pic 3: the back of the dress afterwards.

Please pardon the cruddy pics. My dad and sister are in Ca., I'm in Or. so it's all about cell phone pics. :)

I'm not really sure what's going on in that photo... is it more of a panel or it is a sash hanging down over the back of the dress?

I like how it adds a little sparkle to the dress, but I'm not sure if I'm crazy about the copper and black together.  Just my opinion though.

That's awesome that your dad is helping you out like this!  My dad wouldn't do that type of thing!

I like it, they look great. I also like the fact that they can be easily removed afterwards.

Kudos to your dad - I can't ever imagine mine trying something like this!

The piece snaps onto the dress where the bow ties (so the bow covers the snaps). Like I said, it's a cruddy cell picture, so it's not the best representation.

Yeah, my dad is awesome! He makes all our halloween costumes. He also does hair and make-up. I am very lucky. :)

Personally I really like it, I think it just adds an extra something, like a great accessory. Your dad is so creative!

I'm probably going to get killed, but I'm not digging it.  It's awesome though that your dad is crafty!

I can't really tell how I feel from the pictures.  Its a great idea - I just can't tell from the pic if it works or not.

I'm thinking that there should only be one tie in the back.... just the copper or the black.

Where do I find a dad like yours? Haha. That's a great idea - it adds a pop of "surprise!" as your BMs walk down the aisle.

I like it too, but make sure you like it in person. For example, it looks ok in the pictures, but if it doesn't look good in person it might bother you when your girls are walking down the aisle!

    PS-Dads who sew are awesome!

I totally see where everyone who is a little concerned about it is coming from. Luckily my dad knows that I may see it in person and hate it (he won't hold it against me, he promised). But the whole point was the make the back more interesting for the walk down the ailse and the pics. :) I apprieciate your opinions and dont worry, I've learned that if you don't want to hear what others have to say, dont ask! :D

I really like it!  It adds a subtle little pop to the dress.  That's amazing that your dad did that!!

the only time my dad has ever sewn anything was the nose of my old mickey mouse stuffed animal.  If he were to get crafty now with a dress, he'd probably just slap a few bumper stickers on it and call it a day.

I think that the picture probably isn't really doing the copper panels justice.  I like the idea of personalizing your stuff..

Hmmm... I'm not a fan.  You could just add a sash around the center instead of the black one... our groomsmaid wore that dress and that's what she did.

I think it's great that you personalized your dresses!  Especially for a late October wedding, they'll be just gorgeous!

i love the dresses, but honestly, i'm not a fan of the panel idea...

for me at least, it just seems like one of those cliche "bride" things where everything all has to have the wedding colors or theme or whatever.  black dresses are soo chic, i love them without the panel.
