I’ve always pictured my dad who is a minister performing my ceremony. What I can’t seem to picture is how we go from him walking down the aisle to “who gives this bride…”? Has anyone pulled this off before? My mom thinks she should meet us at the end of aisle, I think she just wants a featured part in the wedding. I really need some suggestions, but my mother walking me down the aisle is not an option.

Is there an associate minister at your church that could do that part of the ceremony?

Could you and your FI walk down the aisle together? Or maybe just walk alone? I don’t think that it would look right for your dad to walk you down, ask who gives this woman, answer himself, and then go up to the altar.

My friend’s dad (my Pastor) officiated her wedding. He walked in with her and an Associate Minister did the whole “who gives this Bride” and her dad assumed his position then.

@eloquence08: I did a search for “father is officiant” and your 2-year-old thread popped up. What have you decided?
My dad is a minister and I know he really wants to perform our ceremony, but I too am a little concerned about how he can pull of this dual role.
I’d love to hear more about how you’re handling it!
