What songs is he thinking of? I'd make sure to play his songs at a point where it wont clear out the dance floor. Perhaps right after the cake cutting, so all your friends can eat cake and your dad and have his songs.
Maybe you can also play one of his songs when he and your mom are introduced?? I'm also curious to see what songs he is requesting.
Thanks guys... just trying to figure out when to play them and I like both your ideas! One is Dan Seal... never heard of him before this outta the blue request, I think the song is "I wanna bop with you baby" I will have to get the names of the other songs... I will share when I find out :)
I hear you! My grandmother loves her some POLKA! Yes, I understand that we are a Polish family... but seriously. Save the polka for the family reunions, grams. I have to admit though, it'd be sort of funny to see FI's Italian/German family trying to get their polka on! :)

Here's barely 40 Belle to say that I commisurate with you! My mom graduated from HS in 1958 so she had all the late 50s' and the rest of the 60's stuck in her head most of the time!
When I used to come home sometimes during college, I'd walk in and see her dancing in the kitchen while she cooked to some wacky 50's songs (be bop type stuff) and it was hilarious!
Now I'm not going to be as gentle as my suggestion, but perhaps give your dad an ipod tune, instead of having the band attempt some be bop song, and let him and your mom have one dance on the dance floor?
Hang in there! Or as Fonzie used to say.."Aaaaaaaayyyyyy"

Oh jeesh, first a lil background... Im one of 6 kids, five girls and one boy and Im #5, yep the last girl, and there are a couple years between us all... and when I say a couple I mean a lot, there is a 20 year difference btw my lil bro and my oldest sis. So being on the younger end of the spectum my parents have always been a lil old, outta touch, well older and more outta touch than most... but I love them and their my parents what can I say. But my dad just put in his request for music he wants to hear at the wedding (I never really gave it much thought that he would request music) So I'll give him its only three songs or so but man are they bad, not our style at ALL, and not even old, fun, get down music, but like clear the dance floor, our friends (and anyone under 40) will most likely run for their seats... but he's my dad and I want him to enjoy the day too, and he is helping us pay for some of it, so I suppose that alone gives him some say. Any ideas on how to handle this musical melodrama without hurting his feelings? (sorry for the run-ons, my one big flaw... ok one of several flaws)
