first of all, this is my first post.  i found this website and truly enjoy it! here's my situation...

our daughter is 1.  by the time the ceremony comes, she will be almost 2.  well, she goes to bed at 8:30 and our wedding is in the evening.  everyone that she is close to will be in the wedding.

i was thinking about packing her playpen and decorating it in our wedding colors, just in case she falls asleep. my fiance moonlights as a dj so she can sleep through anything.

do you think this is a bad idea?  i don't think it's cool to hire someone to watch her or anything like that.

    what would you do?

    thanks!

I would assign someone at the wedding to be in charge of her.  You may miss your whole wedding tending to your daughter if you don't have a backup plan in place.

i would do that or perhaps have a sitter for her and a room where she and other kids (if they are invited) can watch movies and eat popcorn?

    ps welcome to the hive!!

That would be great to have the playpen, but with everything going on, you'd be surprised how easiliy these little buggers can muster up energy! Plan on having her staying up WAY later than you expected! Good idea to decorate the playpen too!

The playpen idea sounds perfectly fine. I'm sure there will be plenty of family around that will keep an eye on her anyway.

I think that it is a good idea as long as you have someone to watch over so that you can enjoy your day. Our son slept through most of our reception. So it worked out and it was during the day. LOL

    Welcome to WB!

Thats a good idea to bring a playpen for her to rest in once the party gets started. I also I agree with jocelyn. Maybe have an aunt or another close friend/family member watch over her during the reception so you can enjoy your time with your husband :)

Also, don't get so excited about decorating that you forget about safety.  I wouldn't put anything on that playpen you wouldn't give her to play with unsupervised.  If she can put it in her mouth, I wouldn't use it!

Have you thought about hiring a sitter to watch her during the ceremony and reception? That way you would be there in case she needs you, but you wouldn't be entirely distracted watching her. I love the playpen in the wedding colors idea!
