My daughter’s wedding was Friday, December 20th and everyone said it was perfect. (I know better, of course, but at least we fooled them.) This amazing group of articulate and talented women was my greatest source of inspiration and support throughout the process, and I just wanted to say a heartfelt “thank you!” Almost every time someone said “That’s brilliant – how did you come up with that?” the answer was “Weddingbee.” I never thought I would be able to make a low budget wedding look so beautiful, but thanks to the many ideas I found here, it all worked out. Merry Christmas to all of you!

@TexasAggieMom: Absolutely beautiful!
I love your dress – where did you get it from? My mom’s on the search for a dress for mother of the bride (me) too! I would love to see what the reception and whatnot looked like as well! 🙂 I’m glad everything went “as planned” in the guest’s eyes!

Congratulations, mama! Your daughter is beautiful and I’m guessing with all the hard work and love you helped put into the wedding it was beautiful as well!

@NicoleLyn1218: Thanks so much! Finding my dress was a long, bumpy road. I ordered a Jade dress through my daughter’s bridal shop which arrived in early November. The color was not what I had hoped for (needed more of a champagne, it was more copper colored) and it was way too large. The tag said “8” but in reality it fit like a 12 on top and maybe a 14 on the bottom – huge! The jacket and top were on a sale rack at Dillard’s for $55, but Alex Evenings makes a similar set. I had picked it up as the “backup” in case my custom ordered dress failed to meet my expectations, which proved to be the case. Two weeks before the wedding, I found the satin fabric in a matching shade and took it to a seamstress, who made me the skirt from a standard pattern for around $80. Sure wish I had done all that BEFORE ordering the $400 dress I didn’t wear! Encourage your mom to follow her gut feelings and find a dress that she loves. Mine was so comfortable – I danced all night and it held up really well, although I did have to shed the jacket after doing the Wobble!

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments and your support throughout this process! One of my daughter’s bridesmaids just got engaged today, so it looks like I have a really good excuse to hang around the Hive a bit longer…thanks to ThisTimeRound for the invitation to hang out on the other boards.

@TexasAggieMom: Hahahah that’s awesome! Sorry about the dress you didn’t wear…..but I love the one you did!!! I want her to be comfortable. She (along with future MIL) are all worried about what my “expectations” are. I really don’t care as long as you look nice, as it is a formal event 🙂
