I just wanted to share my experience with the fellow bees about DAVID’S Bridal in CT! This was the ONLY dress shop that I had in mind, mainly because of my budget and they offered dresses that I could afford! I was not overly excited about going dress shopping, only because of the fear that nothing would look right on me (& because I don’t like dress shopping!) Anyhow, I had my appointment for 2PM, had to wait roughly 15-20 minutes for my consultant. There was a good amount of people, I can’t imagine how pack this store would be on a Saturday! I was given a bridal dress book to browse to see what types of dresses I wanted to try on.
My consultant Monica was amazing! I had my heart set on the Swiss Dot Tulle dress, but it was out of stock 🙁 And with a $400 budget and specific wants it didn’t look too good from here. Luckily my cousin asked about the Vera collection, and there was a beautiful strapless $300 over my budget!! I had nothing to lose so it was the first dress that I tried on and it was lovely. I felt really pretty in it and I hope my guy likes it! I didn’t leave until around 3:45PM and I tried on 3 other dresses that did not work well on me. One of the hardest thing was trying on a dress that was too big for your body type so I couldn’t really picture how it would really look :/
It was also kind of awkward for me to step out in dresses with another bride and her group a few feet from me, but once I got over that and got back to the important things such as “is this it?!” it was smooth sailing. Monica also did not pressure me to try on anything that I did not want. I read reviews that at David’s you had to wear their bras or corsets, but I just told her I had my own strapless bra on and she was fine with it 🙂
At the end of the experience, you close your eyes, make a wish and you ring a bell signifying this is the dress! It was a very pleasurable experience and I am very happy that it is over!
This is the dress that I will be wearing in 6 months! <3
Also, I believe alterations are done 4-6 weeks before the wedding and all sales are final**
I hope this post helps any brides in CT who were debating about David’s! It doesn’t hurt to go here, but don’t expect the glam and glitter like on the TV show “Say Yes to the Dress” haha 🙂
