How I made it...
I bought the runner from Michaels with a 40% or 50% off coupon for about $15. Also, the acrylic paint was bought at Michaels as well.
I already had pre-designed the crest which is used on my invitations. I printed the crest as a banner in Microsoft Publisher. It printed off on about 16 sheets of paper. Cut, aligned, and taped the "BIG" puzzle together. I then placed wax paper over top of the banner. Then I started painting. I painted in sections, basically worked from left to right. It took a few days but that was my own choice. Probably would have taken about 3-4 hours total.
Good luck to anyone who plans on making their own DIY Aisle Runner! It takes alot of time but I believe the outcome is lovely!
thanks! it will be in the front. we will be standing just above it, see the white space above it?
our venue has a weird setup and i really wanted to make an aisle runner. if we can't use it for the ceremony we are going to use it for the entrance to the reception.
This is my completed DIY aisle runner.

that looks very elaborate and labor intensive...but it totally paid off. AWESOME! will the monogram be in the front or the back of the aisle?

Very nice. Looks like a lot of painting and time was involved! Your family is going to love it.
