My bouquets are done! My talented daughter and I are making our bouquets this weekend. I live near a ‘to the trade only’ silk flower store. We are DIYing the bouquets, bouts and ceremony flowers for my Oct wedding.

@katsmah: Love the colour one, great for your October wedding, great job, very neat. Love Calla Lillies shape.

@katsmah: I love these! If I were having flowers, I would be doing something like this.

@katsmah: LOVE it. I’m doing calla’s too….with a mix of a few roses as well. I’m just doing White, green and purple. Do you know if the store you went to has a website you can buy from? I know they have some at Joann’s too 🙂 I want silk as well….real is too expensive, AND I can’t keep them forever if I do real.

Thanks! It was fun to do them. We finished the bouts also and I am thrilled with how they came out. We will be adding the pearls to the bouquets next weekend.
The store is G & G. They have an online store – http://www.gandgwebstore.com/ The prices are a little more expensive online than at the store. There is a $30 min purchase and at the store I had to pay a $10 fee for a shopping pass.
I paid 3.50 for each calla, and I think online they are 4.00. They also have cheaper callas, but after comparing, there was no contest. We also made the bouts and I think the total flower cost for the 3 bouquets and 3 calla bouts was $118. I’m an encore bride and one of my regrets from my first wedding many years ago was not being able to keep my beautiful bouquet. I knew going into this wedding that I wanted a silk bouquet.
If you have any questions about anything you see on their website, I will need to make one more trip to the store in the next few days.

Great job! I’ve been considering doing some of the flowers myself for my wedding but I’m not sure if I could pull it off.

@katsmah: That has been my motive the whole time – to be able to keep my bouquet. I don’t want to have dried flowers, I want vibrant ones that I can keep forever 🙂
I love your bouquets and boutineers. What did you put on the bottom of the boutineers? About how many callas did you use in your bridesmaid’s bouquets?
I do have a question….There are calla lilies on that site that are about $2…..and there are some that look to be a heck of a lot the same for about $4. Do you know what the difference is?

@katsmah: really pretty. I like them.

I’m only having a Maid/Matron of Honor (my daughter) and a Jr. Bridesmaid or Best Man (my 12 yr old great niece). The smaller bouquet for the jr. Bridesmaid or Best Man is 5 flowers, the Maid/Matron of Honor bouquet is 7. Mine has 19 flowers. The stems of callas are pretty thick and it was a comfortable size to hold.
We found the base for the boutonnieres at Michaels. It was a wonderful discovery as we had been struggling with how to make the bases look nice. They were $2.00 each and I would have gladly paid double that. They have a built in pin on the back of the base, so we won’t need to use a straight pin.
The difference between the $2 and $4 flowers becomes apparent when you see them close up. I really didn’t notice much difference in the colored flowers, but it is noticable in the white/cream. I can take a pic for you when I get back there. If not this week, then next week.
Thank you FoxyBride14.
@nlo: Youtube has a lot of videos about making your own calla bouquets. We started with the smallest one and remade it a couple of times before we got it how we wanted it. The calla is far easier to work with than most flowers.

@katsmah: Thank you for all that information. I was thinking about that many for the BM’s bouquets. Seems reasonable – and still cheaper than real calla’s!!!
I will have to look at Michael’s – such a good idea to have bases with pins already in them!
If you could please take a pic of the difference between the two, that would be awesome! They look very similar online.
