I have been ogling everyones DIY strassed shoes for months and I have officially started my own. I can not even come close to affording Louboutins so I strassed the Touch Ups Shirley bridal shoe. Here is my progress so far. I have finished one shoe. What do you think?
P.S. The pictures don't do them justice. They sparkle like crazy!
P.S.S I REALLY wish I could wear heels, but I promised my fiance that I wouldn't be taller than him on our wedding day....so flats it is.
They are so cute! This is one of the best DIY shoes I've seen! Great job!
That is amazing. I can't believe you did it yourself. They are going to be gorgeous on!
These are so cute! Thanks for posting them, I'm going with flats too and I wondered what they would look like blinged out :).
OH MY GOD! Those are the most scrumptious blingy shoes I have ever seen.
I'm glad that you like them girls. I am so excited to wear them!
teach us how oh great shoe blinger!!!
I love them! I have made the same promise to my fi, and may copy cat you! sorry!
Yes, you did a fabulous job with that...how long did it take and where did you get the supplies?
Well done!!
Alright here is my tutorial. Keep in mind that I have giant size 12 feet so I probably needed more crystals than you will need.
First, you need your shoes. Any shoes will work; don't worry about the material.
Next, you will need flat back crystals. Hobby Lobby and Michaels have them, but you will spend a fortune! I bought mine from a seller on Ebay. His name was bead_better. I ordered the following sizes and quantities:
2880 ss 20 crystals for $59.60 (I only used half of this size)
2304 ss 16 crystals for $31.68
1728 ss 10 crystals for $21.36
My shoes cost me $55.00 so the whole project cost me around $170.00.
While your waiting on shipping, you will need to run by a craft store and purchase 2 bottles of E600 glue, triangle flip trays, and an applicator sticky wand. These tools are a must. The triangle flip trays flip the crystals over so that you can pick them up easily. If you don't have this you will waste a ton of time trying to turn over the tiny little crytals. With this tray, you just shake it and all of you crytals turn right side up like magic. The applicator is even more important! I found mine in the scrapbooking dept. It is a little pen filled with sticky tacky. It allows you to pick up each tiny crystal by touching the pen to it. Then you can set it in the glue and the tacky releases. It's a life saver! I couldn't imagine trying to pick up each crystal with tweezers. They would be flying all over the place.
After you have all of your supplies, it's time to get started. Start by outlining the shoe in size ss 16 crystals. It will give it a uniform look. Work in small sections applying the glue and setting the crystals. Once your done outlining, fill in the rest of the shoe. It's that simple.
I advise you to set aside a lot of time. It takes around 15 hours to complete one shoe.
If any of you make some, you'll have to let me know how they turn out.
Those look amazing. Do you think I can bedazzle my shoes somehow? Maybe the heals? IDK.
Have you walked around in those shoes? Don't the crystals pop off when you bend your foot and shoe as you walk? I'd be afraid of having crystals popping off as I walked.
Wow, the shoes look lovely! :-) I'm jeleous of your patience to put in all that work!
@mandy83ala: I think your shoes would look adorable with the heel blinged out. :-)
@Mrs.Philosophy: i really like those shoes---nice job.
@mandy83ala: no! don't do it! those shoes are pretty enough without being blinged out.
OMG those are GREAT!!! where did you get shoes like that?? i need flats cuz i dont know how to walk in heels lol....that is a great idea!!! Great job!!
@LacrosseBride: Yes, I have tested them thoroughly! I didn't want to have any mishaps. I have walked in them and bent them every which way. I have even tried to see if I could purposefully pick one the the crystals off, and I couldn't get one off. Those babies are suck on there good!
These look GREAT! I am definitely leaning toward DIY shoes because I can't find anything I really love and want some sparkle like this!! So inspiring!
Wow! Great job on blinging out the shoes! They look great!
@mandy83ala: I love your shoes! The blue is sooo pretty! Blinging out the heel would be super cute.
Thanks for your response, OP! Glad you did a test run since that would be a nightmare to have the crystals popping off with every step!
I have almost finished the other shoe, but I ran out of crystals. I will have to post a picture of the final product.
@Mrs.Philosophy: those are one of the best DIY shoes i have seen! they look awesome! i am gonna be in flats too- hubby to be is only 5'9-i am in the market for green! guess we shall see what i come up with!
Wow! Thanks for sharing! I need flats too and have been so disappointed with everything I have seen so far, until now! I really might do this!
Hi!
I've been scouring the net looking for a 'triangle flip tray' that you used. Where was yours from? I'd be most grateful if anyone knew where I could get one from!
Thanks x
