Just wanted to show off my DIY earrings! I originally fell in love with a pair from Thomas Knoell, but the price put me off…. $200+ on earrings?? No way!
So I brainstormed, posted on the bee, did some late night searching, and found the exact same earring base that the original designer used!! After that I did short work of getting all the necessary supplies…swarovski flatback crystals, glue, ear wires, jump rings, and of course the Swarovski crystal briolletes!
and voila! These will be my something borrowed (because I borrowed his design, lol) and cost me a whopping $15 and 20 minutes of my time gluing on the crystals and attaching everything. Now I just have to convince my mom that I will be wearing them on my wedding day (she had her heart set on pearl studs).
Here are the original earrings….I think I did a pretty good job, what do you all think??

Wow! You did an amazing job!!! Where did you find the base? I’m in search of jewelry now too, but don’t want to spend that much on something that I might be able to make myself for a fraction of the price!

Man – Note to self – don’t buy from that guy. I hate when people put that kind of mark-up on an item when they didn’t go out of their way to create something original…
Great job OP! I am glad this guy didn’t get your hard-earned money!

I found a seller on etsy using the same base and then I realized it was a mass-produced item…so I starting searching for it…. Floral finding, deco finding, etc I eventually found it on etsy…and ordered it on the spot!
i searched using this term: “earring findings”
That was my thought too! The cost for him is probably closer to $10…. Crazy huge markup!
