I really liked the idea of having an unconventional guestbook. Some bees had posted the fingerprint tree idea and we loved they had the lovebirds on them, but I didn’t like the idea of having everyone possibly staining their clothes, or having trouble remembering which print belonged to whom. So I took a trip down the Etsy road and found this, which is basically the same idea but people actually sign the leaves around the birds.
However, I couldn’t see myself spending $40 on a printed canvas… Not when my mom (who actually became a painter after retiring) graciously decided to paint 75 tiny lovebird canvases as wedding favors. So I rolled up my sleeves and decided to put the family’s artsy-craftsy vein and MamaBird’s studio with its arsenal of paints, canvases and brushes to good use.
MrMusicBird helped me picking the colors and this is how it all went…
First I sketched the tree and painted the flowers.
…then I painted the leaves and sketched more details…
Then I connected everything with the trunk and branches.
Our lovebirds! …. and I penciled our names and the date.
Ta-Dah!!! Finished product. I blurred our names, but left the date so you could see the detail!
