I like where you are going with this! The one thing that i really like in the first invite that you didn't use was how the text lined up with a left orientation after your names and with the names pushed out a little more.
I think I like the font in the first one better, but otherwise it looks great
Thanks for the comments! The font seems to be a kicker off the bat, so I will change that then post another picture when I get a chance!
In addition to the font orientation and style, I would narrow the trunk o the tree if you can, it looks rather unnatural as it is.
I would also narrow the tree trunk slightly. I would also either add more grass or eliminate what you have. Tree top looks great! Are you going to mention FI's parents on the invite ("son of....")?
Very cute! You shouldn't capitalize the words at the beginning of each line, though, unless that line begins a new sentence.
@Tigrrlily04: I think that font is cute for you names, but I would choose a different one for the other text of the invite.
I really like the feel of your invite, but the color is throwing me off. I think it should all be in greyscale or you should add a punch of color in the tree - even if it is subtle, like a muted green or brown.
Your leaves on the tree look great, but I would taper the trunk of the tree a little at the top and thin it out. The proportion of tree leaves to trunk is just a tiny bit off.
I just want to claify that they look really nice now - just giving you some critiques to make them perfect!
I like what you have so far - but a few changes I would make is to make the trunk of the tree a little skinnier (like others have suggested) and to make the tree top not so full..... Other than that - keep up the good work!
I like them, but would play around with the font a little to find the perfect one.
I would try right-justifying it to see how it looked. The centered text doesn't look quite right to me at the moment. Also, too many words are capitalized. It should probably be something like this:
Mr. and Mrs. John Doe
request the pleasure of your company
at the marriage of their daughter
Jane Marie
to
Bob Doe
Saturday, the second of June
two thousand and twelve
at six o'clock in the evening
Dinner, dancing, and celebration to follow!
Part of what I love about the inspiration is the color; you've nailed the painting part, but I think it needs some more color either on the paper itself or the tree or something. Also, I love the text alignment in the inspiration, so I'd try to mirror that more.
@Tigrrlily04: i love your version but i think the font needs to be changed. maybe use a script style?
Nice! Not a fan of the font, though. Check dafont.com to see if you can find a pretty script font.
As PP said, I think a different font on the second one would improve it. Maybe more color, too- you only have that 1 green grass leaf, which looks odd with everything else black & white. So sharper black lines or more watercolor-like colors.
I agree with PPs that it's a really beautiful design. I would make choose a less script-y font (prefer a serif font) for the rest of the words. It's really pretty, though!
i love the tree, hate the text- font and orientation. i love the font on the first one though.
Really pretty! I agree on the color and font, with the other posters. You mentioned sending them to get printed - check out www.catprint.com - great pricing, and they send samples. I've seen alot of brides post that they love that company.
I love it! I like the first one better, but have you tried overlapping the light part of the graphic with the font?
It looks great but I think if you tried to mimic the font from the first one it may look a bit more professional...but great job so far!

Hi everyone! I decided to attempt to design my own invitations. I saw an invite I liked for inspiration and took that idea and rolled with it. I have the mock up of the invitation, and the thought is that I would paint pieces that have the same colors and style (branches, smaller trees, flowers, etc.) and use those images for the RSVP cards and also for our programs, place cards, and other things throughout the wedding. This is just a quick mock up in need of some editing and changes to the font, but I wanted to get your thoughts. Should I roll with the idea? Scrap it all together? Any comments to make it come together more? The first picture was my inspiration invite that I found, and the second is the one that I painted and threw together. Once I design them I am planning to send them somewhere toget professionally printed. Thanks!
