@magnolia87:  I think it is really cute, I love the mailbox idea!! What do you plan on putting around it? It could blend into that rustic look depending on your other details and decor.

Hi! I am going for the whole rustic look too! Have you thought about adding some chalk board paint to it? Maybe distressing it a tad more. It looks good so far though!

Actually, I wonder if some lace around the ends of the mailbox would look cute?

Sanding it down probably won’t help much – it’s metal so it won’t have the same effect as wood (might make it shiny, even).
Maybe if you paint it (with flat paint) with a coat or two (different colors so it looks like an old mailbox with layers of paint?) and then sand the paint a bit that might work for a more “rustic” look.

@magnolia87:  so cute! I think that would look great if you sanded parts of it to make it look more rustic! If not it is still looks great!

@magnolia87:  Lovely card box!  I also did a mailbox cardbox for my wedding 🙂

Have you/are you painting the inside?  That was something I struggled with (tried glueing nice paper in there which didn’t really work) but I ended up using a sponge to paint the inside a nice dark brown with some leftover spray paint I had from another project. If you are thinking of painting the inside, I highly recommend using a sponge as it will help you get into all the corners and edges.

@magnolia87:  Ugh, it still looks great but maybe try a little spot on the bottom and see how it turns out? If you like it do the whole thing?
