This was my first attempt at DIY wedding makeup. I have individual fake lashes on the right side and mascara only on the left. It doesn’t seem much different in person, but the fake lashes definitely look better in the photo. I have a little bit of blush (I normally don’t wear blush at all) but it doesn’t really show up at all. I’ve got a light pinkish/nude lipstick on with lip gloss, but it also looks a lot more dull in the photo.

Wow! Your lashes are that long? I really can’t see any difference in them, but I’m pretty jealous!
Do you have any eyeshadow on? I think if you do you need it heavier as well as the rest. I’d also use more color on your lips, but that’s just me. Good job!

The photo lighting higlights everything to one tone kinda
Love the lashes and the pink lips!!! 🙂
What tone is your dress ? (ivory, white, etc)

I agree fake lashes look better in pictues. I think everything looks kinda light, but I think thats just the lighting. You look beautiful!!!

@ItWasntMe: Yep, the lashes on the left are my lashes with Maybelline Falsies mascara. It doesn’t look any different than my normal Loreal Voluminous though. I do have eyeshadow on but I think it may be the flash lighting with my camera (the overall look is far lighter in the photo than I think it looks in person).
@Eva Peron: My dress is Maggie gold with the ivory lace overlay.
So you think the lips are okay? Not too “nude?”

I’m 40 years old and everything I’ve read says you shouldn’t wear eyeliner on the bottom past 40 (honestly, I know I read that somewhere). I’ve also got squinty eyes so I always worry that they’ll look smaller with eyeliner on the bottom. Anything else I can do to make my eyes “pop” more?

@milesbella: You’re 40?!
The individual lashes look great. Maybe fill in your brows a little to draw more attention toward the eyes. Your nose looks a little sun burnt, so maybe some more foundation to cover the redness.

I would try a taupe color eyeshadow to line your bottom lashes. I don’t think it really matters how old you are, but using an eyeshadow instead of an eyeliner would look less harsh.

I have been DIYing my own makeup as well, so here are a few things I’ve noticed after the 10th or so trial….
I agree with nw6454, use a little liner on the bottom. If you use a taupe eyeshadow, use a wet q tip to draw the line. it will last and give a little more definition to your eyes (whihc are gorgeous, btw!).
Use powder over your black eyeliner as well. If you have black eyeshadow, use the wet qtip to do that as well. It will help the liner last all day! I was given that tip by my Mark rep, and even in 100 degree Florida humidity, my liner lasted all day!
You will definitely need more than you think you need. I love the look you created, just make it a little bolder.
Great job for the first try!!!!

I think it looks good. I like the fake lashes–they’re just a little thicker and it looks nice. And you don’t look anything CLOSE to 40!
