So, I just got an awesome deal! My mother and I are going to make my veil. I just bought 4 yards of white illusion tulle online for $1.88/yd. My grandmother is giving me a pearl-headed hat pin to attach it. My grand total for my veil? $8.59!

I'm making a cathedral length drop veil, btw. Here's some inspiration pics!

The tulle is 108" wide. I got it online on the Hancock Fabrics website. It's on sale for $1.88/yd right now, normal price $2.59/yd I believe. They didn't carry it in any of the stores around me.

With the promo code HKFEMAILSIGNUP, I got free shipping for signing up for their promo e-mails... which I already get anyway, lol.

I'm thinking about making mine too, but I'm scared to death because I've never tried anything like that before! But it just seems too simple to be hard to do! And I just can't bring myself to pay that much money for that piece of hanging fabric! LOL How many yards did you order? And did you order extra in case you don't get it right the first time?

Another option if you don't want to DIY your veil is borrowing one from a friend who has recently gotten married.  That's what I'll be doing.  Cost of veil = $1000.  Cost for me = $0.  :-)

I ordered 4 yards. When I measured it, I needed about 3 1/2. I dont forsee it being any trouble. My grandmother was a professional seamstress, my mother sews and I've been sewing since I was little. lol, Between the 3 of us I would hope we could figure this out.

Ohh... I want to DIY my own veil, too!!  Would it be possible if you could post how you did it after you've figured it out and/or when you are done?  Pretty please?

do you think that sewing will be involved? or will it just be steamed and dropped?

That first picture is my favorite! Love it. I still don't know if I'm even going to DO a veil. I don't like wearing things on my head...

@crebre- I haven't decided. Even if there will be sewing, it will just be a comb. Nothing major. Plus, I work in retail so I can use the industrial steamer in our stockroom! Woo!

@ejs- They are a total ripoff. Agreed.

I will post pics as soon as we make it.
