Hey everyone, I FOUND MY DRESS! It's a Lilli Isaac...has anyone esle heard of her? She is apparently only sold in smaller boutiques throughout the US and Canada. I am getting married June 5 and went dress shopping recently assuming i would have to wait 4-6 months for a dress to come in. Instead, the dress I fell in love with was a one of a kind and had to be bought off the rack so it is already mine! My question is whether or not I should store it laying down or hanging up since it will be sitting around for 9 months. Also, what type of bag is the best to keep it in and what would you recommend for maintenence to make sure dust doesnt collect?
The bow/ribbon is going to be removed during alterations, IMHO, I think it just ruins this beautiful dress!!
It is a beautiful dress! From what I have heard it would be best to store laying down. But I don't really know about that....my dress has been at the shop since May and I am sure it is hanging up. Maybe as long as you use those hangar straps and wrap it around the hanger to lessen the pull. Also keep it away from a window so the sun does not change the color.
I love the dress! I agree though - it probably would look nicer without the bow. But either way it is gorgeous!
I absolutely love this dress! I was also able to buy my dress off the rack and it lifted so much stress off my shoulders! I was worried about ordering a dress and having it be the wrong size or different from the one I tried on.
Buying a dress off the rack is definitely the way to go!
It's really pretty. I agree it will look better without the ribbon. I'd say hanging is better, but I'm not really sure.
It's gorgeous. I can't wait to go find my dress. I haven't been dress shopping yet but that's probably the thing I'm look most forward to!
its beautiful!! and i love the bow at the front - sets off the entire dress
edit: opps, just read youre going to have the bow removed... see.... cant please everyone! :)
Thanks for all your kind words! I was really going for a romantic dress...not a big poofy princess one. Unfortunately I hate hate hate bows and it will be coming off. It is also about a size too big which is why they had to use the clips so I will have to get all that taken in about 3 months before the wedding. I assume it shouldnt be too big of a job esp since its just a zip up and not a corset.
Well I see that you are removing the bow but I think it would be cute either way! But I love, love the layer and I love it on you! Beautiful...congrats!
WOOOOW, drooool, your dress is so pretty! I bought mine at a sample sale and it's been hanging in my aunt's closet (since it doesn't fit in mine)...As far as I kno, it's ok to hang them up to store...
You can store your dress in a 100% cotton sheet, in a cool place away from light and heat. Does your bridal shop offer storage until you are having alterations, or do you need to take it out right away? If the gown has good hanging straps at the bodice sides for the dress to hang on a hanger, and some way to support the train, then it can be supported hanging. If you are going to store the dress laying down, then you may want to have it boxed by a dry cleaner. Since the dress has been in the shop, you may want to have it cleaned by a professional wedding gown company anyway before it is altered, depending on what condition it is in. Look the gown over carefully. If the gown looks fine, then don't b other. but check it carefully for signs of makeup, soil etc at the hem. You want it perfect for your wedding day! Anyway, if your dress is going to be stored flat, support the folds with ACID FREE tissue paper. You can get this from the dry cleaner, or if you go through a wedding gown preservation company. The bridal salon should be able to make reccomendations.
The gown is beautiful! You made a wonderful selection!
It actually is in great condition...nothing noticable to the eye so i wont be getting it cleaned. I dont wanna risk it with all the intricate beading. The cotton sheet sounds like a good idea, or the store said i could buy a cotton bag for 20 bucks. There is a loop under the skirt that would go around the top of the hanger so that it is not "hanging" on the hanger all the way to the ground. I dont want to store it at the shop,,,id just feel better with it in my own hands.
Wow, that is a gorgeous dress. I wasn't familiar with the designer, but I'm going to check her out. I love how dreamy and romantic it is!
I love your dress, all of the layers are so beautiful. And I agree with you about the bow
If you are keeping it at your place, I reccomend going to David's Briadal to see if you can buy a garment bag. They're like 10 bucks, so if they have one go for it! I have mine hanging up in my closet. = )
It's a gorgeous dress! Congrats!
When using that loop to hold up the train, make sure it is not pulling or stretching on one point too much. You might want to add another loop, or better yet, put the train through the bar of a padded hanger. That way, you won't have any stretching from that loop. When I was working in a salon (I used to be a buyer and manager, I am now retired) we did not put up the trains of our gowns. We let them fall in the bags when the gowns were being stored. Buying the cotton bag is not a bad idea! That way, you will have the bag to transport your gown for fittings, and you can let the train down in the bottom of the bag.
A tip: When zipping the bag, place your hand inbetween your gown and the zipper. That way, you won't catch any of the lace or beading in the zipper!
Your dress is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!!
I was also told that laying your dress flat was better because nothing would be "pulling" and then get it steamed before your wedding day to get the wrinkles out. I was also told by a bridal consultant to wrap it in a white sheet and store it in a garment bag (as His Barista said, you can buy one for $10 at David's Bridal) in a closet or under a bed to avoid sunlight.
Can you ladies give me some suggestions on what accessories you think would look good with this dress? I am going to be wearing a veil for the ceremony, and my hair is going to be down with loose curls. I would like to put some sort of flower in my hair for the reception. I would also like to wear a necklace, earrings, and a bracelette or some sort of cute cuff on my wrist. Someone help me accessorize! Pics are greatly appreciated
This is going to sound a little backhanded... I usually HATE layers like that, but that dress is GORGEOUS!! It looks like it was made for you!
I would wear a really simple veil Maybe a drop veil like this one?

Oops, meant to say that a veil like that wouldn't compete with your gorgeous dress- only add to it. Besides, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE drop veils, so I am totally biased.
I might add that i do not want my veil to cover my face! And i would like it to sit toward the crown of my head as opposed to the bottom of the back of my head.
I am wondering what it would look like a little more full with a petticoat??I know nothing about petticoats..
That is a beautiful dress! I haven't seen anything like it and it is gorgeous!
I have found that Etsy is an awesome place to look for great accessories! I found these I thought would be nice on you!

Hope this gives you some inpiration! :)
Thanks! I love those earrings. I suck at accessorizing so any ideas are appreciated! For the reception I was thinking about making my own hair flower.
you look GORGEOUS!!!! That dress is amazing. So romantic but so interesting and unique, too! What color is the dress? Oh, and I googled the designer to check out the dress on her website and well, your dress is truly one of a kind! The Lili Isaac website says says they don't post pics on their website of the dresses. They also don't advertise the dresses in mags. Wow. Special dress!

The dress is ivory, and this picture doesnt show it with the petticoat so it looks a little flat. But yeah I love it! I am having a Catholic Mass and I need to still find the perfect bolero to go over it. I am thinking just a somewhat plain ivory satin one, as i do not want a bolero that is going to take away from the dress, just something simple that will still make the dress the focal point.
