Hi Bees! I have been reading for a while, but this is my first official post! I have been keeping my dress a secret from friends and family, so that it will be a surprise, but i’m so excited about it and have to share it with you guys! I originally went to the bridal salon saying “no lace, no bling, no mermaid” and i walked out with lace bling and a mermaid style. How many of you fell in love with a dress that was completely opposite of what you expected?

That looks awesome on you! I wasn’t prepared to fall in love with a form-fitting dress–I’d been told my whole life to camoflage my hips, but the dress I wore was short and snug all the way down.

Wow! I love your dress! It looks amazing on you and is gorgeous! I had a minor issue when I had my dress on because it was lace too. I didn’t think I was a lace person but when I had it on I was like.. do I really like this?? And I kept being drawn to the lace ones I picked. Guess you never can tell!

WOW! You look amazing in that dress! I haven’t been to fittings yet ( I am not officially engaged yet – see Bio), but i also planned to avoid mermaid styles….after seeing you I may have to give it a shot!

You look beautiful stunning!!! I also got a dress completely opposite. I wanted all lace form fitting simple, like mermaid or fit and flare. I fell in love with a satin ball gown with lots of sparkle. It just looked the best on me and made me feel amazing!! Its all in how it makes you feel?!!!

Apparently I’m not the only one who went with something different! I was looking at A-line styles with lots of organza ruffles. I love the style, but I’m so petite and I just felt like a little kid in those dresses. My bridal consultant asked me if when I walk down the aisle if I want my man to say “aww how cute” or do I want my man to say “daammnn!” lol That’s how this dress became “the one!”

@FutureLewi: Absolutely adore your dress. Looks lovely on you. I was certain I wanted something very simple and fitted with just a little bling but basically the simpler the better. I got persuaded to try on a tulle dress and it was “the one”. I was shocked as it wasn’t a style I considered. Bling on the top and full from waist down with lots of sparkle running throughout the whole dress. You can never fail to surprise yourself. Well done on your choice though 🙂

@FutureLewi: Perfect choice for you. Very pretty.
I wanted a lace dress but it looked quite plain on me and aged me a little.

First off, you look beautiful!
I had the same mind set when I went to the dress store, no lace, no bling…what did I end up with, just that. You never know what may look fantastic on you until you try it..girls dont be opposed to trying diff styles, it may just be “the one”

Beautiful dress 🙂 Mine is lace also. I knew that I liked lace when I was looking but really thought I wanted a poofy dress. I ended up loving the fit and flare shape on me! My Ella Marie by Maggie Sottero just came in two days ago yay!
