I ordered my wedding gown, Maggie Sottero Geneva, back in August. It came in a few weeks ago and I finally got the chance to go today to try it on! It is still a little big and needs a lot of alteration on top (to accommodate my lack of chest-area lol) and I’m thinking of having them turn it into a sweetheart neckline.
I tried on a few veils with it. I’d like your opinions to help me narrow things down and come up with a vision. I am leaning slightly more toward one option..I don’t want to say which yet!
Some background…the wedding will be outside in Central Park, NYC and the reception is at a funky, non-traditional restaurant/bar in Brooklyn.
First are a few photos of just the dress, then two photos with the veils. I’m also considering no veil, just a flower clip (I plan to wear my hair down). Thanks so much for your opinions!
–sorry for such huge pics….I even resized these!

I love the traditional one on you, very beautiful dress.

Only because you said you were having a non-traditional funky reception…i say go with the bird cage! it’s different and looks really cute 🙂

I voted no veil! I think if you’re having a non-traditional reception then I would just rock a flower. I don’t know that your dress fits well with a birdcage, to be honest.
Or, you can do like I did. I wore a traditional ribbon edge veil for my ceremony and then took it off and just wore my hair flower during my reception.

I really like the birdcage combined with the dress – it’s not an obvious choise, but with your hair and facial shape, you can ROCK it! But also, I’m wondering about a veil that is longer in the back but shorter in the front? (If they make those?) Because the classic is wonderful with the dress as well and looks lovely on you as well. Sorry I’m not much help!

I really like the birdcage veil. I think it looks really lovely on you. And in my mind jives a little more with an outdoor ceremony in Central Park.
If you’re leaning more toward the traditional veil, I like what @zippylef suggested: to wear the veil for the ceremony and the flower for the reception. Brilliant!

Thank you all for your opinions and suggestions so far! I definitely plan to take whichever veil off after the ceremony (if I even wear one) and just wear a flower for the reception…..great idea!
Looking forward to other ideas!

My dress is pretty similar to yours, and I’m doing a traditional veil for the ceremony and a birdcage for the reception (my birdcage is just over my forehead and on a headband, so it wont get in my face or annoy me lol)

Pretty dress! I would do a cathedral veil with a lace trim for your ceremony. Really rock it out and go the exta mile with the lace on the dress and veil and the length would look incredible. then do the birdcage for the reception.

traditional veil for sure!! And with that dress I think I would pair it with a cathedral length veil.

I love the traditional veil with maybe a raw edge instead, would hate for anything to take away from your gown, just let it all flow together! =)

Love the traditional veil…goes perfect with your dress!
