My dress came in on Friday, so yesterday my mom, a friend and I went to see how it looked 🙂 It fit so well, though it can stand to be taken in at the bust and waist. I won’t start the fitting process until June, so I had some time to lose some more weight, but I am very excited 🙂
I’m thinking that I’d like to add sleeves, mostly because I’m self-conscious about my body and I’ve always been uncomfortable showing my shoulders. We tried on a lace keyhole bolero, but the way it cut in towards my face made my shoulders look wider, so that’s out. So now I’m thinking, what about a sort of Reem Acra cap sleeve, with some beading?
I don’t know if it would work, though, because it would have to be free-standing at the back (only attaching to the bottom of the dress, as my dress doesn’t have a high back). Another option is something like the sleeves in this photo, which is of a dress I’ve never been able to identify!
What do you think, hive?

If you can get lace that matches your dress, I would suggest the lace sleeves. The beaded sleeves might be a little overbearing with your dress.

Both are very beautiful. If I had to choose I’d say the lace sleeves though. So pretty.

I’m a big sleeve lover so definitely yes to sleeves! I don’t think the beaded Reem Acra type sleevs would look good with your dress though, I’m afraid they might overpower it. Also, if a lace keyhole bolero made your shoulders look too wide for your liking, there’s a good chance cap sleeves might too because they hit where most people’s arms and shoulders are widest. You have a lovely balanced figure and it would be a shame to let the wrong sleeves spoil the pretty picture, right? 🙂
I think your best bet are wide lace straps so you’ll still get the coverage that will make you feel comfortable without competing with your dress or body type. The second option you posted is lovely. I’m adding my own suggestion just for good measure 🙂 Oh, btw, if you need ideas maybe go over the Aire Barcelona, Rosa Clara and White One websites. They’re Spanish and great with lace – and since Spain is very Catholic they’re very good at covering the shoulders for church weddings 🙂
ETA: I forgot to tell you that I love your dress! You look absolutely radiant in it 🙂
