I got my dress back from alterations the other day and am super excited! I bought my dress for a great price and had an outside alteration shop do the following: Take off the tan sash and replace it with the sparkling crystal sash, remove the straps, put on a sweetheart neckline, take it in 4 sizes, and put a corset back on. I need to find a slip still to poof it out more on the bottom but you get the point!
Before alterations:
After (with veil!):
wow, that is a beautiful dress!!!!!!!!! Great alterations!!!
How much did changing it a a sweetheart neckline cost?
It looks like a totally different gown! The crystal sash is stunning.
@MissTatas: I was looking forever for a crystal sash. I went to local bridal shops (they wanted $1,000 and up for one...insane!), fabric stores, etc. I finally found my sash on Etsy for under $50!
You rock for selling the potential in the dress you bought. Nice job! You look fantastic!
Beatiful!! You look great in it! You did a great job with the alterations, such a big difference.
@MsJ26: gorgeous! can you share the etsy seller where you got the sash? i need one too!
@kitzy: I bought it from Daniel12. She had a couple to choose from. I also bought the veil from Etsy for $20 ;).
@ellabee: Thanks! I was nervous when I bought the dress because it had to have so many changes to it. Everyone thought I was getting it done so soon but to have so many changes to the dress, I wanted to make sure it came out right just in case I would have to go get another one real quick lol.
You look amazing in it!!!!!! I am curious, how much did all the alterations cost?
@MrsGruber23: The dress was $100 and alterations was around $400 for everything (including bustle). It was more than the dress but that was the idea going into the project. I knew it would take a lot of rework to make the dress how I wanted it! The most expensive thing was to sew on the crystal sash becauase they had to do it by hand.
@Aubergold: Haha I know! They are amazing despite the language barrier we had. We made it work though with a lot of picture showing.
@trugem: It was a..eh em...guy! A seamster or whatever you would properly call him hehe. ;)
@MsJ26: That's great. I spent almost $400 just to take my dress in and hem up the bottom.
@MrsGruber23: I hear that a lot so I went to a private seamster who I was referred to by the bridal shop I went to. If I bought my dress from DB, it would have been $1K then an extra $400-$500 for a slight alteration.
@MsJ26: Exactly. All of that would have costed an arm and a leg at David's.
Thanks ladies :) I can sleep good at night now knowing that my dress came out ok lol. I was pretty nervous but having my dress altered exactly how I wanted it was exciting! Now I gotta find some shoes....
Beautiful!!!! I sooo wanted a crystal belt, but the budget wouldn't allow :( You look amazing in your dress!!! Rock on!
@crebre80: Thanks :). I knew I had to have the crystal belt because I always pictured my dress having some type of bling on it. And I looked FOREVER...I think it took longer to find an affordable crystal belt than the actual dress!
