ooo I am so happy that you asked this. I am also June 2014 and my dress will come in very soon, I am wondering the same things. I am trying to loose a few pounds for the wedding, which is working.. but I have no idea when I should do the real measuring. My dress is ordered to fit me now so I have NO idea what do do with it until it comes!!

LAso, once you do find a garment bag, try to buy it used, from another bride or something along those lines.. I thik they can get pretty expensive from what I have heard

That’s exciting.  You usually start getting your alterations done about 2  months before your wedding (at least thats what the place I got my dress at said).  My dress won’t be in until July (I’m getting married this October).  I have my first two alterations end of August and my last one beginning of September.  They said I can pick up my dress a week before my wedding. I like the fact that the place is holding on to the dress for me. My FH’s sister is getting married April ’14.  I don’t think her dress came in yet but I will ask her what her plan is once it comes in. She knows everything there is to know about the wedding planing process!

I had my first fitting about 4 months before my wedding, the second fitting was about two months before.  If you think your weight will fluctuate very much over the next year, I’d wait a little while before getting it altered.  Sorry I don’t have any suggestions for the garment bag.

@eliseemma:  my gown has been in a DB bag in my closet for a long time. It’s just fine IMO. They cost $10.00. I don’t see the need for anything better or more expensive.
