SO my dress is in and I finally got to try it on!! I’m still in love with it, but now I’m a little bit confused… I always figured I would end up in a strapless dress, but I fell in love with the Maggie Bernadette when I first laid eyes on it. The dress has straps/sleeves and a keyhole back, which is something that I never imagined wearing. When I initially tried on the dress in the sample size (2 sizes too big), I was swimming in the top and wasn’t a fan of the sleeves, so I was planning on removing them and making the dress strapless.
Today, though, seeing the dress again with sleeves made me love the keyhole back even more! The top is still huge but I just cant seem to pull the trigger on cutting off the top of the dress since that’s what makes it so unique. I also decided to go with a trumpet slip to give the dress some more volume on bottom and I really like it. It seems to fit pretty perfectly below the waist, but I will need major alterations up top (I still look like I am swimming in it) so keep that in mind.
So what do you think? Cut the sleeves off and make it strapless? (The seamstress says she has done this before and the detailing will be kept intact somehow). Or keep the sleeves with the keyhole back even though I never pictured myself in something like this? I’m so torn! See pics below. Thanks 🙂
Strapless (when I first tried on the dress, 2 sizes too big and clamped up the back.. note I’m standing on a stool — I’m not really that tall)
With sleeves (today with the correct size, not clamped up the back.. on the floor with 3 inch heels, but still needs some hemming)
