I am sure many brides out there are hoping to shed a few pounds in order to look there best on there special day. I guess you could say I am one of them... to an extreme. I bought a dress at the August 2009 "Running of the Brides" in Boston. I found a gorgeous dress in my street size, but not my dress size. I took the risk and I bought it thinking "I have over a year to fit into this thing! That's more than plenty!" Well, now I've got less than 9 months and I'm still not fitting into the thing... there's no Plan B. I'm wearing this dress! LOL. I need to make it happen. Any tips?

stopped by your blog one thing i noticed.. your carb intake.  Why don't you bring that back a little and you'll probably start losing!  I started 3 weeks ago and I've lost 7 lbs already, but I still have my cheat days if I want and I carb it up and it doesn't effect my weight because my body is working fast to use it.  Good luck to you, you got a hell of a deal!

Weight Watchers has worked for a lot of Bees and it's nice to have someone asking you every week how you're doing. It keeps you accountable!  9 months is plenty of time so good luck!

Do you have any idea how many inches you need to lose in certain places to fit in to the dress?

@ Mimosa: you are right about the carbs. The problem with the WW points is that rather than focusing on the variety of foods I'm eating, I'm concentrating on points. Great observation! I'm going to work on that.

@msbuttons: I'm not good with estimating measurements, but I'd say about 3 inches in my upper midsection. With the proper undergarments, I'm sure it could be less. The thing is, I don't want to spend money on a pricey undergarment that won't fit me after I shed some pounds. Make sense?

@Brown - you still have time to lose the weight if you do it seriously (Count EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth) but also is your dress a corset back? If not does it have a complex back? Because you could convert it into a corset back and it could give you a couple inches around the torso... but not the hips!

If you are serious about working out daily, try the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels (the trainer on The Biggest Loser).  A friend recommended it after using the DVD before her trip to Mexico.  She lost 15 pounds!

I bought it on Amazon for under $20 and it's been doing miracles firming my body in just the last 2 weeks.   I already ate pretty healthy - lean proteins and lots of fruits and veggies but I stopped drinking soda and alcohol too and have lost about 4 pounds in the last two weeks.

    Hi there,

My dress, purchased when I was actively losing weight in Dec 2008, is two sizes too small currently.  It breaks my heart.  I'm getting married 10/10/10, too, and I need to lose 40 pounds to be able to fit into the dress (and, like you, there's no back up plan).  My goal is to reach it by July, because that's when I need to have my fittings for the dress.  I'm going to subscribe to your blog so I can follow along.. I'm rooting for you!!

@ Gilneas: Thanks! I'm rooting for you too! We can do it... we just have to stick to it. I know what you mean about doing it by July. Time is ticking!

@Brown and @Gilneas -- we need to be weight loss/workout buddies because I'm in the same boat!  I bought a dress from preownedweddingdresses.com that was my dream dress -- but it was a few sizes too small.  I also need to lose about 40 lbs to get into it by October 16 -- although I'd like to get more weight off and tone up. I'm determined to say "bye bye" to "bye bye arms" before my wedding day :)  I'm also doing WW as a way to monitor my food intake.  We're not completely hosed, but we need to get our bums in gear for October weddings...

@ cupcake: That's exactly why I made a blog! I wanted input. I wanted people to tell me they feel my pain. I wanted to be able to vent about dieting issues to people who know what I am going through. I wanted the encouragement. Without that, I could fall off the bandwagon.

How do you know how many pound you need to lose to get into the dress? People keep asking me and I'm like... I need to lose a size or 2 (to be safe), but I don't know how that translates to pounds, especially since I'm plus-sized. And the arms! Mine are gross. Besides fitting into the dress, my arms are a big concern (no pun intended). heh!

Just and FYI - for about every 10-15 pounds you can loose a pants size.  I am doing WW and I've lost 15 lbs so far and I'm down 1 pants size.  It is HARD to keep it up but you can do it!!

@Brown -- I'm basing it off of the girl who sold me the dress.  She's maybe an inch taller than me and about my build (if I could stop eating Zebra Cakes and get my bum to the gym).  She was also about three months pregnant when she wore the dress so she had boobies!  Which is good because I am *gifted.* The dress has a corset back so I've got some wiggle room.

Also, that is my weight goal in general, and the weight at which I think I will look my best.  I won't get so small (baring like, a nasty case of swine flu) that it'll be too big on me.

@Brown2Be - When I bought the dress, I tried on a sample size that was just a bit too big on me.. and was told that if I intended to lose weight, to purchase a size down from that.  It was over a year ago, and my weighloss stalled and I've gained 20 pounds since then (and gone up a size).

So I know that, to me, ~20 pounds is a size, and the dress is currently 2 size too small.  Losing 40 pounds also brings me to a very confident weight.  I've been there before and I like it there.  I'm plus-sized, also, and even when I lose 40 pounds, I'll still be fat, but I'm fine with that :)

We can do it!  I haven't been feeling well, but you have encourage me to open up my WW website and get tracking again!!

Oh, the arms.. I'm down about thirty pounds from my highest weight, and my arms are just.. I just don't like them.  I didn't hate them as much when I was trying on dresses as I thought.  I do have a little bolero I had made, and a shawl.  If I'm not feeling confident.. I'll wear one of them the entire time.
