- Wedding: March 2013
Back in January or so, I fell in love with the Allure 8850. It’s an allover lace strapless sweetheart number with a full skirt. The sample dress was a 10 and the shop owner could stuff a whole roll pillow in the back of the dress to make it fit properly (no clamps in this shop, i liked that). So she and an associate suggested I size down to an 8. I thought, sure, no problem if the 10 is so large.
So the dress comes in around April or so, and I go in to see it and try it on, and I can’t even zip it up all the way!! I figured, oh well, I can just drop 10 pounds or so no problem since I have some time.
Well now it’s less than 6 months to the wedding and I am perhaps a little slimmer, but I doubt an entire size.
My question is, does anyone know if allure gowns have room to be let out? I have read that most gowns of most brands can be let out, but sometimes they can’t. I’m having a lot of anxiety about this and frustration also because no one bothered to measure me before we ordered the dress (maybe partly my fault for not insisting on it, right)! My theory is that the sample 10 was pretty stretched out from being tried on and distorted our idea of what the next size down would be.
Thanks for your help!
