oh boy! hopefully that was an overestimate...i know when we ordered BMs dresses, we were told 6-8 weeks but they came in after 3.
Some bridal salons estimate the delivery to take extra time...maybe it will come in early!
i hope it comes in early!! but if not i don't think it'll be a big deal :) also, it's gorgeous! congrats!
My dress is scheduled to arrive November 9th or "at latest" 10th -- and I'm flying off to the Caribbean for my destination wedding on November 15th! I'm not having it altered by a salon, tho, but taking it directly to a seamstress. I'll just have to have her waiting with needle and scissors!
My wedding is March 13. I am doing my final fitting March 1. Your dress is not full of skirts or crinolin, a seamstress should be able to alter it in a week. Your dress is simple and very elegant, there is no beading to work or anything complicated. You should be ok.. Could you also see if they will do a rush? A lot of manufacturers will.
What an AMAZING dresss! I don't think you have to worry since it's such a simple dress. Also, I wouldn't mention its your "wedding" dress to the tailor since they might jack up the price. Good Luck! It will turn out great.
I am getting married dec. 19th and my dress just got here last week. Hopefully i wont need too many alterations. Going next friday for the alterations and bussell.
My dress is supposed to come in mid-December, and my wedding is two weeks later - with some holidays in between! So I'm hoping mine will come a little early too. But I'm not letting myself stress, it'll work itself out.
I'm in the same boat: We haven't set a date yet but there are lots of openings in March... and my dress will come in sometime in February.
Just breathe. Everything will turn out fine. There's no sense in getting yourself stressed out.
If it truly takes that long to come in one month is PLENTY of time for your alterations. Most places advise not even starting them until 6-8 weeks max before your wedding date because of weight loss, etc... Seeing that you won't need to worry about a major hem, bustle, etc... you have nothing to worry about...deep breath. My alterations started about a month before my wedding and I had to have a hem, sides and bust taken in, bustle added, etc... and it was all done with time to spare.
BTW....great dress!
Hope it comes early, usually they overestimate just to be safe.
Whoa I can't believe this thread got bumped! With perfect timing, too. I just got a call today saying that my dress has come in a month early! I'm going tomorrow for a fitting, and I'll be sure to post pics!
Mine came in early too- while I was out of town for 2 weeks! Of course, right?
I just started my fittings. 1 month is fine for alterations.

I ordered my dress today, and the shop told me it won't be in until February! That gives me about a month to have it altered! I'm wearing an ivory bridesmaid's dress, so there should be minimal alterations needed, but still! I asked the salon for a fabric swatch so at least I can get my shoe and accessory shopping out of the way.
Is anyone else facing a time crunch?
Here's my dress:
