So after getting engaged, the ONLY thing I could focus on was getting a dress. I knew what I had in mind and what my style was. I fell in love with several styles and silhouettes but the moment I saw Anniston by Maggie Sottero – my jaw dropped. It was everything I wanted in a dress but NO shops anywhere near me carried a sample to try on. At first I decided to cut my losses and try on some other dresses that I was eyeballing as well.
I didn’t get pictures of every dress I tried on but the first I tried on was Maggie Sottero – Micah which was GORGEOUS but SO heavy. I could barely walk around in it and knew I wouldn’t be comfortable so I nixed it.
I really loved the light gold/champagne dresses I’ve been seeing online so my consultant pulled a bunch of dresses that were able to be ordered in that color. I instantly fell in love with the color. Ivory and white dresses were also out.
This was a Casablanca 1827 dress that I ALMOST pulled the trigger on:
It could be ordered in my champagne color with the ivory lace overlay and got good reviews from my FMIL and my MoH. I felt really good in it but I started thinking about that Maggie Sottero – Anniston dress again. It was stuck in the back of my head and I didn’t want to leave with doubts so I asked her if there was a dress that had the same silhouette that I could try on to get an idea of what Anniston could look like on me.
So she pulled another Casablanca gown that she pulled originally for me a while ago but I didn’t like the detailing on so I didn’t even try it on when she originally pulled it (lesson learned! don’t hyper focus on details when you should see what silhouette looks good on you -_-)
I knew instantly that this was the right fit and silhouette for me – I just didn’t love the detailing on the dress. My consultant laughed and said “I knew I should’ve made you try that on in the first place!” We compared pictures of the Anniston dress and how the fit would be the same with as this dress but with the detailing of the Anniston dress that I loved. So I did something I would’ve never dreamed that I would do – I ordered a dress that I never tried on…and I couldn’t be happier and more excited about it.
My dress will be Maggie Sottero – Anniston in light gold with ivory. I can’t wait for it to come in!
