I love my dress and it is the perfect length with 3 1/2 inch heels. The shoes I have (I can return them) are 4 inches.

Does it really look funny to have my dress half an inch off the ground? It really only shows in the front.

I'm big on heels, and really don't want to switch my shoes. I always wear 4-5 inch heels, and I don't want to compromise my style just because of my dress.

Our wedding in May 15, so I think I have time to get it altered, but altering to make it shorter is MUCH less expensive than taking the hem out. Right? I'm actually not even sure they can do that. I think I should have special ordered it longer. I didn't even think about my shoe height when I ordered it.

    Any suggestions??

Ha, we must be twins! I literally just went through this Saturday, except my dress was measured with 2.5 inch heels.  My shoes I bought are 3 inch.  Honestly on me it looked funny, so I returned the shoes and am ordering lower ones.

    Good luck :)

I dont know if this is to late or not, but I actually just had this issue and they called the manufacturer of the dress and was able to order it 3" longer so I can get it hemmed to fit what ever height shoes I choose

You don't want your dress dragging on the ground in front of you.  I think a that a half an inch is normal for wedding dress length.  It is just that in all the pictures to sell you the dress they are all touching the ground and very full.  You don't want to be stepping on your own dress during your first dance with your husband.

    Good Luck
