Finding my dress was easier than I ever imagined! As a plus size bride I envisioned trying on dresses as being a nightmare…. I was worried that I’d get stuck in one or rip one or that all of them would look ridiculous. I made my appt at David’s Bridal and hoped for the best. I was lucky to have my mom, my gram and my aunt along with me. I must admit I was very nervous when we arrived in the parking lot 15 mins early. It was a little hectic when we went in as my appt was right when they opened but as soon as my consultant took us back everything was smooth. She pulled most of the dresses I had listed as my favorites. The first one was gorgeous but too heavy and a little too busy for me so we moved onto the 2nd one. This was the ONE I had been stalking before my appt.
I had loved the flower and ruffles online but when I tried it on the top was too plain and the flower placement just seemed “off” to me. I was slightly disappointed but kept on moving.
The next one was too plain—-NEXT.
The 3rd one my mom loved b/c it reminder her of her wedding dress, I didn’t love it…..
When I put on the next one I was surprised that I even liked it. It was more fitted then I thought I would like, but I really liked it. In fact we liked it soo much we even thought this was the ONE…..
But, can you see my face??? I’m clearly not sure. I spent a lot of time in this dress and then my consultant asked if there was something that I’d like to try that I hadn’t and I flashed back to the one I had been stalking and realized that I loved the ruffled and how it flowed so I asked for something, anything with ruffles AND…..
I wasn’t disappointed at all!! In fact I was in LOVE!! I loved it. It was light, flowy, romantic and it was perfect. I was pretty sure this was it, but my aunt said we better do at least one more so I asked for a princess dress.
Again.. my consultant did not disappoint…..
This dress was amazing. It made my waist look soo small and it was really pretty.. BUT, it wasn’t me… it was too poofy. This was my gram’s favorite (see her sitting with a little smirk) but it just wasn’t me… My dress was this one:
Overall I had a great experience and found a dress that I love and fits me and my vision! Anyone else have an easy go of finding your dress? Were you surprised by how fun the experience was? Anyone else envision disaster only to be surprised by the ease and fun??
