So I am new to Weddingbee and I love reading about ladies engagement rings and how ladies get engage to!! But I have to admit, I am a little insecure about my E ring, My fiance and I are pretty young and he doesnt have a lot of credit, But I know the ring is kinda pricy because it was rare to see a Emerald cut solitaire in the stores in our town, Please let me now if my ring looks small on my hand, The pic might make it look bigger but for me it looks small...Its a 0.5 ct Emerald cut solitaire.

    Hiya!

My FI and I are quite young as well. My ring is the same cut but it is a sapphire since that is what I wanted. I would say mine is a bit larger but not by much I don't think. It also has two tiny diamonds flanking it. I don't think that it is too small so no worries! It isn't about the size its about the thought and what it represents. Though to be honest I had the first couple of days thinking it was too tiny! In retrospect that was cruel of me but we can't help feeling what we feel! Also, I think your ring looks FABULOUS on you!!! It is very beautiful!

I don't have a picture of mine on the computer but no worries!!! No need to stress it is perfect :)

    Welcome to Weddingbee!

I think it looks great on your hand.  If you are worried about not having enough bling maybe you can get a more blingy wedding band.

it depends on the cut as well, dear.. your diamond has to be darned near perfect for it to be in an emerald, so while your carat weight may be smaller you can guarantee your diamond trumphs theirs...

This is the side view of my ring, Which I love!! I was thinking of putting 2 wedding bands on each side of my E ring, I love the simplicity of my ring, its not that I want it with more diamonds, just a bigger rock, but you right cheesetomywine, its not about how big it is, I am glad you ladies understand!!

no, it doesn't look too small on your finger.  but if you don't like how it looks, there's always blingy wedding bands to jazz it up as the pp posted OR you can change the setting by rotating the diamond 90 degrees!  it's different but i love that look.  :)

I think it is really beautiful!! One of the fabulous things about enlongated cuts (like emerald, cushion, and oval) is that I think they make the stone look bigger. I would have definitely guessed at bigger than .5. Rock that beauty with pride :)

You could do 2 thin prong set bands like this:

    Something more unique:

Even though other gals may have more carats, you have a very unique shape, which makes yours stand out.  People will definitely notice your ring because it's not every day that you see an emerald cut.

As Crebre said, in order to have an Emerald cut, you have to have a near flawless diamond... which means the quality of your diamond surpasses just about everything out there.  You have a beautiful and timeless ring...  Don't worry about what others have!  Focus on the amazingness right there on your finger and what it represents about your relationship :)

Yes, much too small-JUST KIDDING!  Your e-ring is special for other more important reasons not pertaining to its size.  It's lovely & it doesn't overhwelm your hand!  It's special b/c your FI bought you the best he could afford.  Plus, emerald-cut aren't as common--they actually cost more b/c they have a larger "table" thereby showing more flaws, so you have to buy a better diamond.  I occasionally get a bit wistful when I see giant e-rings, but I love mine.  My FI could have gotten me a big ole' traditional ring, but it wouldn't be the same.  Plus, what would I do with 2-I already have my late mother's small e-ring.

    it's gorgeous!

I was definitely concerned about quality over size so my ring is .85 carats and I'm happy with it!  I probably could have gotten a moderate quality, bigger diamond for the same price (and I have large enough hands that I could pull it off), but I love what I have because a) my hubby picked it out and b) it's a great quality diamond!

It doesn't look that small to me, actually (I would have guessed it was larger if you hadn't said!), but if you feel insecure about it, I agree about the ring guards to add some bling (or you could eventually re-set it in a three-stone band?). It's lovely even without adding anything, though. Congratulations on your engagement!

I think it is fine AS IS and you should do what is right for you financially.  You can always add more later!  My band came as a plain solitaire band, and we later added in side diamonds in a "bubble setting".  We also bought a plain, very inexpensive wedding band and were going to do the same (for our 1 year anniversary), until we found a similar band 1/2 off at a going out of business sale.  If you are very young (I'm already 30 and DH is 32) then you can do this for a 5 or 10 year anniversary present.  It is much better to start off on the right foot financially.

I have a .75 Emerald cut solitaire. We're in graduate school and while we're not going hungry, we don't have 10K to spend on a ring. I love it. Emerald cuts are simple and elegant and beautiful. We're unique and not flashy, but subtly beautiful. Don't get caught up in the cts - everytime I look down I swear it grows!

Steph, I truly believe that when it comes to your engagement ring, size does not actually matter (no jokes, please...I'm serious. =p) Sure, some girls have huge diamonds, but some girls also have fancier clothes and cars than some other girls. That doesn't make them any better. When you think about you and your fiance, does it feel right? I bet it does, because it symbolizes your love and your future together.

I personally think that your ring looks like the absolute perfect size, and I love all of the options you have to dress it up.

Love your ring and it looks great on your hand! I have a solitaire (princess cut) that I felt was a little small so I found an enhancer (also known as an embraceable) for my wedding band to add some extra bling!

You'll be much happier when you realize you aren't starting off your marriage with a heap of credit card debt because you got a bigger stone. Put that money to better use! You've got a gorgeous ring and a man that loves you - anyone that puts down a ring for size has priorties out of whack. Your ring is great!

I think it's lovely.  Emerald cuts are about the clarity of the stone, as others have mentioned--you have a really high-quality gem on your finger.  The other thing is, it's a well-proportioned emerald cut... there are certain width to height ratios that are considered better than others.

I have an emerald cut and just love wearing it.  It's special and not something you see everyday.  I hope you end up loving yours.

    It is just beautiful!

Just because they are out there doesn't mean your ring has to be huge.  I have 1/3 ct- personally I wanted a smaller sized ring because it fits my lifestyle better, I didn't want something big that I would smack around on everything.

Girl you must have some tiiiiny fingers, because that does not look like a 1/2 carat EC! I would have definitely guessed around 1 ct, at least. The setting is lovely and I think it looks great. Can't wait to see what you choose for a band! I think two bands would be really nice, like some of the pics posted!
