Bees, I need help picking a wedding band. My engagement ring is not typical, but I love it and it’s what I wanted. I’m not a flashy girl, and in fact, I’m pretty clumsy and careless so I told my FI that I didn’t want a ring with a raised stone, really. The ring he got me is technically an anniversary band.
So, as you can imagine, I’m having a very hard time finding a band. I went to the traditional big-name stores this weekend to browse solo, and was insulted. So many people wanted me to buy an engagement ring instead, and make my ring more like the wedding band. They just didn’t understand how a girl could NOT LIKE the big rings. So, putting anything else next to it is kinda tricky, since I don’t want it to be flashier than what I have.
Here’s some of the ones I’m considering – styles only. I just can’t seem to find them in stores, only online and I’m not sure I feel comfortable buying a ring from Amazon. Thoughts on purchasing online? Opinions on these rings?
Ring 1 – flat, 2-3 mm to match size of my ring, but get something engraved inside.
Ring #2 – some minor detailing, like beveling, or whatever its called. Could still get it engraved.
Ring #3 – Black diamond band, channel set like my ring? But I can’t find this ANYWHERE in real stores.
Ring #4. Somethign with a small diamond set into the ring, not raised. Also nearly impossible to find in the width I want – 2-3 mm
Ring #4. Blue sapphires, channel set. So pretty but might outshine my ring?

I love the sapphire one! That would look awesome with your e-ring!

I think the blue sapphire one is super pretty and adds a nice splash of colour. Sapphires come in almost any colour you could imagine so you could always look at yellow or pink or something too.

I like the sapphire one or the black diamond one.

i love the band with the inset diamonds… i dont know if this is your style but i was obsessed with this band forever!!!! lol.

what about matching 1.5mm micropave bands on either side? i think that would be gorgeous

I agree with the sapphire one! Or Ruby – that would be gorgeous too!!

I love the black diamond! However I’m currently obsessed with anything that’s black diamond so it’s swaying may opinion. If this is what you want. They have it at Zales 🙂 http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11353524′ defer=’defer
they also have this one and think putting one on each side would be cool too

It is totally up to you. I almost think n.1 would be best- whatever is most similar to your ring.= to match it.

what if you get a second “anniversary band” in a similiar, but different style? you could wear them stacked, or one on each hand, or just one at a time depending on your mood? I think you have the right idea with the sapphire band, but i do agree that the blue would pop and might take away from your diamonds.

I really like Krises’ idea of getting a second anniversary band in a matching width. Would probably be a lot easier to find in stores too, with many options! I think a colored stone might take away from your current ring, though.
I also asked my fiance for a ring that looked more like a wedding band than an engagement ring. I love it and decided to just keep it as my wedding band once I got married (no second ring). Yeah, most people do have trouble understanding that I just didn’t want to wear a big stone!

I like the idea of the flat ring with engraving on the inside. I think it would look good alongside your ring. (Ring #2 is my second favorite.)
The saphire is pretty too, but as it is flashier, you’d run the risk of people thinking it was your e-ring. Don’t know if that would bother you or not.
Good for you for getting the e-ring you like and not getting a more e-ring-styled wedding band – and shame on those sales people! I have a “traditional” solitare and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gouged my man with it. I wish it was more inset, and I will probably be getting it re-worked sometime down the road.

I love the sapphire one! The black diamond one is really pretty also.

I love either the sapphire or black diamond! I LOVE the look of colored stones with clear stones (I just love the contrast) but that’s what I have so I might be a bit biased. =) No but I really do think either one of them would look lovely with your ring. Or you can even get two for either side of your ring and stack them. That’s always fun! =)
I think it’s awesome that you chose something that suites your life style and needs and didn’t get a traditional e-ring! I love it when people choose something more unique!
Good luck with whatever you decide!

The ring Cinnamon Buns got me is similar to yours – the diamonds on mine just go halfway around, so it is just metal in my palm:
The One Ring
I like the one with the one diamond in the middle (but still not sticking up) but I’m biased, because that’s what we got for my wedding ring! I also like the idea of a plainer band with a bit of detail, like millgrain edging, or a stripe of another colour.
