I think you should take test pictures of the outfit if you are worried, and see if you like the way it looks on film.
I think it depends where you are talking your pictures. If there isn't a lot of color where your going, then the pattern will make you stand out, which is good. Can you go to where you were thinking of taking e-pics and have FI snap a couple of pics? Just as a trial. Oh, and people usually have an outfit change. So, you could do the pattern dress and then something more neutral for your second outfit.
I hemmed and hawed over this for a LONG time before my epics...and I decided that it would be best to go with solids in the end...I had a bright green dress, and it popped so well in our surroundings! I changed into a shirt with a lot of texture (ruffles) in it with jeans and bright pumps for the second half of the shoot. Can you attach a pic of what your shirt looks like? If it was a small floral pattern, it might look great! I'd avoid big huge pattern, because it might draw your attention away from your faces! I'd love to see it though!
I thought they turned out great; here is a link to them if you'd like to see! He just mentioned us on his blog today...and mentions Weddingbee as well (there are two links to the pics...part 1 and 2)

Oh, and becacuse I do love my pics, I'll attach one teaser...
Good luck on your e-pic wardrobe decision!!!
I just talked to the photographer and she told me no patterns because it can take awa from the background and also because you want something to still look good 20 years frmo now and most patterns go in and out of style so ur better to go with a solid

so your photog is a fashion guru now?
just wear what you feel comfortable taking pictures in....the photographer should be able to manage if he or she is a true professional.
I just love Katiebug's e-pics! I agree with the solid color advice, though. If you have a pattern if will be really easy to tell if your clothes folded weirdly or if your fiancé's arm around you caused the fabric to bunch up. I just looked closely at the teaser pic Katiebug attached and I think if she had been wearing a patterned dress, the bottom of her dress might have looked strange and taken attention away from the awesomely sweet facial expressions.
