I love your ring! You are so right - it's a twist on the classic solitaire. It's lovely. By the way, I'm glad to see someone else is a fan of yellow gold, like me.
Congrats - enjoy your new ring and wishing you all the best for your engagement and your new life together.
It's beautiful! I've never really seen a setting like that before! Vintage rings are always so cool :)
@mspuppylove: pretty! the prongs of the setting look a little bit similar to mine (also vintage). Congrats!!
Jealous! I saw a ring almost exactly like that (if not that exact one) on rubylane a few weeks ago and fell in love. Congratulations!!!
@bdemps11: Please tell me that you pinned it or something because I would love to see a picture of it! I'd like to see what other sellers have to say about the design's time period.
Thanks everyone for the compliments! It's so fun to come onto the Bee and have everyone make you feel great.
I did pin it! It's not the exact same one as its still for sale on rubylane, but here is the link:

According to the seller, it's from the early 1900's. I have a ring similar to it that was an heirloom passed to me. It's a round stone in a white gold square top setting with a yellow gold shank. Mine also gives the illusion of side stones with more white gold facing up beside the setting. It was an engagement ring, but I wear it on my right hand.
Oh wow!! Usually solitaires aren't really my thing, but this is timeless and beautiful. How lovely!
How beautiful! I've been hunting for a similar ring, they certainly don't make them like they used to!
Thanks everyone! I also recently compared it to both my grandmother's and his grandmother's rings and it is really similar. They were both married in the 1950s. I believe that this style ("fishtail prongs" I think it's called) was popular in the first half of the 1900s. But a version of it might be coming back in style. Check it out:

My fiance picked the diamond and I picked out this gorgeous yellow gold 1930s estate ring! I love it because it's a classy take on the timeless solitaire. It looks like a flower to me and that makes me happy :) For reference, it's .62 (I think) on a size 5 finger.
