The baby shower (the one I wrote about a few weeks ago) for my step-cousin was this past weekend. I did not go. I have contemplated sending some layettes or something. But, this morning I got on FB and TWO times, step-cousin has posted a status update about her registry.
The first one:
“Thanks to everyone who came to my shower this weekend, I really had a great time and love you all! To everyone who couldn’t make it, we consolidated our registry to (store name here), if you still want to get us a gift.”
“If you didn’t come to the shower and want to get us a gift, we are now only registered at (store name here).”

I saw some status on Facebook about a baby registry that really, really irked me too:
If anyone is planning on/already gifting us some of the nursery decor items from our registry, let me know because I’m going to order some things soon and don’t want to order things that have already been bought! :o)
This person is 4 months pregnant, and its her SECOND kid… of the same gender. I’m sorry but registering for a second kid, and asking people to help you outfit your registry with things like wallpaper and paint just screams WRONG to me.

Yuck, that makes me cringe. I wouldn’t get her anything out of principle!

I had a “friend” from highschool who is living in her boyfriend’s parents basement and decided to get pregnant instead of getting married (that’s what she told me!) threw HER OWN BABYSHOWER!!! That was the last straw for me and I ended the relationship. I had listened to her complain about being pregnant. I listened to her complain on the day that they had set to get married that she could have been getting married and how terrible it was that she wouldn’t be able to even though she had been planning to get pregnant for months when she finally did. I refused to get her a gift or go to the shower that she threw in her own honor. I thought it was beyond tacky.

@eagle: oh please, that is so obviously a gift grab status! ‘don’t want to purchase things that have been bought’ my ass!
Pretty easy to do a check of the registry before you purchase and know that nothing has been purchased. She just wants presents.

Is it Tacky? Well Heck Yeah! But, I don’t think this kind of thing is anything to get all bent out of shape about. Some of the responses suprise me a little.

Wow that’s definitely tacky!

I would ignore it!! As hard as it is to sometimes, they are the ones that look bad..not you!

@eagle: Wtf?! That is so ridiculous! How old is her older child?
