Hi Bees! I just received pictures of my dress from FabulousU. When I ordered the dress back in October, I had given them a deadline of February 1, so this is pretty much on schedule. I will do a complete recap of my experience with them once I receive the dress, but for now I wanted to ask for thoughts from the Hive.
The inspiration dress:
My two biggest concerns are the lower-than-expected vneck, but that’s mostly due to my iffy measuring. Also, the corset is already tied as tightly as it goes, and I’d like to have it showing in the normal way. As you can see, the inspiration dress does not have the lace extending past the hem, but I love that they did that with my dress because I love the look of it. What do y’all think?

I think the dress is beautiful. As a busty-girl I’d be a bit worried about how low the neckline goes though.

I love the overall look, but I think that v-neck is going to be waaay too low.

I think it looks beautiful, but I am also concerned about how low the V-neck is. It scares me a bit! I’ve worn shirts that low when I went out clubbing in college, but I think it’s way too low for a wedding. The V looks like it ends more than 3 inches beneath where the nipples of your breat would fit in the dress!

@StarryNight2011: Yeah I’m not very busty, but I do have a short torso. Judging from the pic, that v is going to end up only a handwidth north of my belly button! I’m asking them to alter it up.

@HisMoon: I don’t know what your proportions/ measurements are but the torso looks really long and disproportionate to the skirt portion of the dress. Also, I agree with the previous posters, the neckline is extremely low!

It’s pretty! My only suggestion is to change the corset ribbon colour to the same light grey as the back of your sash bow OR a nicer colour ivory. Make sure they use NICE satin/silk ribbon. Right now it looks like cheapo shoelaces or something.

@ArtDecoLisa: Yeah I’m pretty short, and I think the really low v-neck makes the top part look like it extends lower than it should.
@bretonvirgniia: Ooo I hadn’t even thought of a colored ribbon for the corset. Thanks for the great idea!

I love those flowers with the detail and sparkle!

Talked to my MOH and a friend who knows how to sew. I’m going to go ahead and have the dress delivered without alterations because I can’t really see much on a dress form that is so obviously not my size. That way, too, I can mock up different options for the extra deep v-neck rather than having them do more alterations that may further limit my options. Otherwise they loved the look. I’m going to meet with a well-reviewed seamstress in my area when the dress comes in and see what she has to say.
Any other thoughts from the Hive?

Here’s my journey with Fabulous U!!
I really want to express how amazing and beautiful and INCREDABLE my fress from Fabulous U turned out. The tone of the evening was “Old Hollywood Glam” and being a plus sized woman I searched and searched for a gown that not only fit my curves but also my budget. As I stated in previous posts, I went to Miss Fish Bridal first before hearing about Tony. It came, it was nice but I had to have it altered AND I had to have an appliqué made because they used lace and cheap beading (it wasn’t cute). It was a bit more WORK and MONEY then had expected bt it was great non the less. I only had the bodice appliqué made because of the time constraint. I am still having the neck applique done so chat I can cut the train off and have it as an evening gown.
FABULOUS U!! Tony and his “Fab Group” were able to construct a high quality custom gown that was tailored to fit my body, under my original gown budget. I took 2 dresses and put them together to make what I called simple eloquence for my day and it was just…….. perfect. What I loved most was that the only thing I had to do was get the dress steamed/pressed. The fit was as if I had gone to a store and had it altered perfectly. Below are the links to my pictures, if ANYONE is planning a wedding or formal event PLEASE speak with Tony and then shop around and you will see just how budget friendly GREAT QUALITY can be. If I had to do it all over, I would have gotten both gowns form Tony and Fabulous U in the first place.
If I said it 1000 times, I wouldn’t be able to say Thank you enough to Fabulous U for making me feel beautiful on my wedding day. His patience, input, and attention to detail was exactly what I needed to achieve the look I wanted.

am i the only one that LOVES the deep V!? As long as she doesn’t have double D’s I think it’s going to look gorgeous!

I might be crazy but it looks like the purple belt doesn’t line up in the back. Also, maybe it’s the angle of the camera but the dress’s proportion doesn’t look right (what artdecolisa said).

My only concern is that low, low neckline. I really hope you have teeny, tiny boobs… even then you might need a modesty panel!

it looks disporportionate. how tall are you?
