@trugem: u should look it up on youtube. some great videos of the casting auditions
What is this show about? The tagline, "This original series brings in a dream team, led by celebrity party planner David Tutera, on behalf of beleaguered friends and family members, to transform what could be a disaster wedding into a platinum style affair," sounds awful! Do they have some celebrity planner know-it-all come in, trash the decisions you've made about your wedding, and revise them to be his version of "better", or what?! The main image shows some "offbeat" brides before, in all their glory, then "after" his "revisions", beaming virginally in typical white dresses. Wtf?
@venganglam: David Tutera comes 3 weeks b4 your wedding and changes everything to be better in the end. Havent you seen the show? Its called My Fair Wedding
some of the bride's "orginal" ideas are TERRIBLE (and have to be fake), like the one bride who was having flower shaped SPONGES as her boquet! really?!?! lol
I love that show.
But I would worry about being on the show, mostly because I want a casual laid back wedding, and I would worry he would make it this super formal affair... I love his work but it's just too big and grand for my taste.
@sweetlikcake- what do you want him to change about your plans? I'm far too much of a control freak to let someone do that haha! Good luck!
@veganglam - - that's pretty much exactly what he does. Every episode I have seen, he comes in, makes fun of all your ideas, and changes everything, from your dress to your venue. He gives you three options for things (food, favors, dress, etc.) and then picks the one he likes best.
I can't stand that show. LOL.
good luck!
i realize that he changes things for the better usually, but i just don't think i could have done it. i loved my wedding, and what i planned for it, and to have it taken away would make me sad. especially b/c i know he doesn't agree with a lot of things i love- mismatched bridesmaids dresses, mismatched shoes, small venues, diying anything.
He's too glitzy for me, but if you like that style, I think it's a pretty great concept. I like the homespun aesthetic, so I think I'd be depressed if he redid my wedding :)
@sweetlikcake: I haven't considered My Fair Wedding, but I was considering "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?" But I already have a wedding planner who is awesome. Plus, it seems like I am not what they are looking for (based on the description they gave for season 11 casting). Also, I am afraid they will misrepresent me.
I've never heard of this show (I don't have cable) bbut just watched a few clips on Youtube, and WOW. I don't like that guy AT ALL. He made this cute little rockabilly chick cover up all of her tattoos.
what i want to change with my wedding is the ceremony and reception. I want kind of a more intimate setting since we are on a tight/low budget we just settled for something we could afford. Its not going to be "ripped apart" but changed for better is the way i see it.
Thanks for all the "good luck" wishes :D
Well, good luck! Hopefully if you get on the show the things you like will stay and he won't make you change any of the things really near and dear to your heart.
i just want the money! then i could do all his things better and my own way!
Best of luck! I hope you get it.
Geez. I wonder what would David do with a bride like me? I mean, I'm having basically a scheduled elopement on an island somewhere and then a reception when I come home. I'd like to see David get thrown a curve ball too!
Love him..he has got great style.
I love watching this show! He normally takes a bride's ideas and blings them up and makes them shine! The tattooed bride did cover up her tats for the ceremony and revealled them at the reception! It was part of the festivities! I think she was the bride who was really into 1950s glam and costuming... so it was totally appropriate for who she was as a person, and the tats didn't match the glam look of the 1950s Marilyn bride, but David wanted her to show off both sides of her personality! The brides that tend to be featured normally do not seem to be able to afford a wedding for any number of reasons, and while the wedding plans are at a final stage, they typically are incomplete in some way. The one wedding item that they seem really devoted to is their dress, and when they do David seems to be able to listen to their thoughts and either shows them a significantly more becoming gown or understands their choice and lets them enjoy their day!
@Sweetlikecake I also put in for the show back in Feb and luckily I was picked. It was an amazing experience and I would do it all over again! Since you are not getting married until 2011 you have plenty of time to enter again!! Persistence pays off ;-)
