…going out shopping with my sweet grandpa today. He came to the bridal shop with me to inquire about what sort of crinoline and veil I’m going to need, came along to the jewelry store while I looked at wedding bands, and just did some general errands together. He even bought me 7 new brooches for my bouquet throughout the day and we just really enjoying spending the day with each other. He found a peacock brooch (which is my wedding theme) as well as a humming bird pin, my late grandmother’s favorite bird -it’s sort of her symbol. His happy smile and glistening tears were pretty much the highlight of the month!
How do you answer, hive? What’s your favorite wedding related find/accomplishment/decision/etc this week?

Awwww… you Grandpa is sooo sweet!
Darling Husband great grandpa got us a bowl for our “hope chest” after we got engaged. At 93 he went to Crate and Barrel walked across the mall to 1 Sunglass Hut and then was told to go to the other Sunglass Hut on the other side of the mall where my HD was. SOO CUTE!! I love old men.

Grandpa’s are the best, I really miss mine. He would have loved the FH.
My favorite part this week was when my Future Sister-In-Law called me and booked her hotel rooms for her whole family (sisters, children, mother, and themselves) and wants to come up a few days early to help with everything. They live about an hour away and she told me she will come up any weekend to help me with anything I need. I guess it is really that they are jazzed for the wedding, which a year ago I would never have guessed.

@tksjewelry: I really miss mine too he was like my Dad.
My favourite part has got to be going yesterday to see my dress and choose a veil and shoes 😉 I also ordered Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses and my Mum got her outfit too.

Getting random packages sprinkled in throughout the week–BM gifts, small random reception pieces, Out of Town bag stuff……
I told myself it would be less stressful if I stayed away from the “big” stuff…oddly enough, it’s the small minutiae that give me anxiety!

These are all really great! I agree, I love grandparents, and even though my grandma can’t be here I can sure see how excited my grandpa is. I’m excited to get to the planning/reserving part like some of you gals, June is coming soon! Thanks for sharing, it’s fun to see the highlights of planning 🙂

I don’t really have anything to add about my week of planning. I just wanted to say that’s a really cute and sweet story, definitely cherish his involvement. I miss my grandfather; that sounds like something he would have liked to do with me.

That’s adorable. 🙂 My grandpa’s 80th birthday is tomorrow. (WOW…)
I don’t have a sweet wedding moment of the week, haha, but I did call and get a price on a wedding band enhancer thing from the place we got my e-ring. That was sort of exciting, because it was FI’s suggestion. I hadn’t thought of it. He gets major points.

Awwwww 🙂 I just wanted to chime in on how sweet that story is!
I think I’m at the point where wedding planning is either really high or really low…lol. My favorite part this week was finalizing invitations to be sent out in the near future. (What a HOLY CRAP WEDDING IS COMING SOON feeling!) and finding out my dress will come in any day now 🙂

That is a wonderful story. I lost my grandma when I was 13. I often wonder how it would be to have her here with me now.
My highlight this week was finding out that we won’t have to move our ceremony from our church. Long story but great news!! Invitations were on hold until we figured out that :little” piece.
I’m sure you will have more wonderful stories to share.

Aw. There’s been a couple of things which felt really good to get done this week. We asked our friend to officiate last Friday and he agreed and we hung out with him again on Thursday. It’s just really cool to think that he is going to be the one to marry us.
I also booked a wine tasting for some of our guests (not an official event, but something for people to take part in if they want the day before the wedding). YAYE wine tasting.
Am going dress shopping in a couple hours, though. So that may be a new exciting moment for the week. Or it could just result in yet another indecisive weddingbee post.

Mine definetly doesn top the Grandpa thing. However I did get our save the dates in the mail yesterday and that is 1 thing to cross off my list of a million things to do.

It’s so nice to see all you bees and the little things that are exciting! I can’t wait to get to that point in planning, I’m sure checking things off the list gets even more rewarding the closer the wedding gets. I feel like I’ve done the whoppers, and now I sit and wait.
This week is just a great week! I’m in a friend’s wedding and was sort of worrying about my budget and travel. Well she just told me yesterday that her mom has decided to swap her deal with the bridesmaids and buy our dresses and we cover our shoes! Amazing! Now I’m so happy because I’ll be able to save that money for a nicer gift for her and traveling to her bachelorette party and shower. I was going to find a way to make it work no matter what, but what a weight off my shoulders.
Also, I was invited to another friend’s bach party (one of FI’s extended family), but it’s in Vegas and I’m on a student budget (as well as saving up for my friend’s wedding and my own) so I regretfully declined to keep my budget in check. Well, FI’s mom and aunt just offered to pay for my flight and hotel for that weekend. They’re basically making me go! I’ve never been to Vegas before, and for a bach party none-the-less! I’m so excited.
Sometimes things just work out, and people can be so generous. I am just one happy gal right now!
