My fear – has anyone ever been sick on their wedding day?

I take oil of oregano the second I start feeling sick, as well as amp up my vitamin c consumption. It gives me peace of mind that I won’t get sick for important occasions, seems to work out whatever is going on inside me before it gets bad.

Rose214:  I was up in the middle of the night throwing up the night before the wedding. I was nauseous and had a dry throat the rest of the day. But my body typically decides on any important day (birthdays, holidays, etc.) that it’s a great idea to shut down. Anyway, I made it through the day but I was an exhausted, sick mess by the end of the night. I hope your fear doesn’t become reality!

I cut out fast food for about a month before my wedding and took garlic pills to boost my immune system. I was fine!

I’ve been to so many weddings that I’ve seen it happen.  I’m betting it won’t, though.  Just be sure to get your flu shot!

Not sick but Aunt Flo decided to visit unscheduled. I had a terrible migraine during the reception and then was up all night sick as a dog after having an allergic reaction to tomatoes which was in one of the dishes and I didn’t realize it.

But it was still the best damn day of my life.

I had strep throat. I’d started antibiotics 36 hours before but I could barely swallow and I was running a hefty fever. I took a buttload of ibuprofen, and the servers at the reception did an amazing job making sure I always had hot tea at our table. It was still an amazing day.

That was my fear too.

To combat it, I became really mindful of not chewing on my nails/not putting my hands on my face and WASHING MY HANDS a lot.

I also started taking immune supportive vitamins, and made sure I drank a lot of water, and got a good nights rest each and every night (as hard as that was. If I couldnt fall asleep, I took a benadryl to help me sleep)

It’s just about taking care of yourself so your immune system doesn’t conk out on you.

I’ve read some posts about brides being sick on their wedding day. One thing that is common in those stories is that they say adrenaline helped to lessen the effects of the illness. They may have felt awful the day before, and awful the day after, but during the wedding they were ok. All of the excitement, activity, and stress distracts them from how they feel and helps them to get through the event.

Rose214:  I suffer from horrendous migraines on a very regular basis (sometimes weekly) and i’m absolutely terrified of having one on our wedding day as they’re completely debilitating!

I’m going to speak to my Dr and see if there are any drastic measures I could take if that were to happen! I would be absolutely devestated if I didn’t get to enjoy our wedding day as much because of it..

I’ve heard of people who have been sick on their wedding day being taken to hospital and they’ll pump them full of whatever they can just to get them through!

I often get sick after being drunk, so I avoided alcohol for about two weeks before the wedding just in case. IT was my nightmare to imagine having no voice and croaking “I do!”

I was so sick. Hubby and I had a legal ceremony in our home city in december (we’re from Canada so it gets really cold here) and then we had our symbolic ceremony in Mexico in January about a month later. I was SO sick for our local wedding! I had the sniffles and if i didnt have a halls in my mouth i would erupt in a violent coughing fit. Not fun but it became part of our story and I wouldnt trade it for anything.

My brother got the flu 4 days before my wedding. Poor kid sat it in his room for those 4 days in quarantine. He didn’t even eat with the family lol. He was all better by the wedding but I was so scared I would wake up sick. He did a great job in seclusion bc nobody caught his flu!
