Is the best! He offered to take me to my dress fitting when my car broke down. This required driving to the other side of the city in RUSH HOUR traffic both ways. He even did the whole appointment with me without complaint and was really sweet. FFIL has 3 sons and no daughters, so I imagine it was a pretty strange experience for him. I love my ILs.
How have your future in laws surprised you???

@Fizzy8: DH works from home 4 days a week. My daughter is not his, but his step daughter. On Wednesdays when he has to go into the office, his dad comes to work from our place,in order to take MY kid to and from school. He never ever acts like she isn’t his own grand kid, and loves spending his one day a week with her. Amazing.

My FMIL is throwing me a bridal shower this weekend. I had no expectations for something like that, so it’s really cool that she’s doing that for me.

Aww thats so sweet!!
I love my FILs. FI’s family all live in the midwest and we’re in PA so we don’t see them that often. When were last there visiting they threw us a surprise shower. I love Italy and so does my FI. We’re also going to Italy for part of our honeymoon. Well the shower was all Italian inspired. They had sunflowers everywhere, had it catered by a local Italian restaurant, put twinkle lights on their deck so we could eat al fresco, served limoncello and had italian inspired favors. They put SO much work into it and all of the details. I loved it.

@Fizzy8: Just want to say that I think that was really sweet of him! And especially since he has no daughters and that you will technically become his first (unless any of his other sons are married), it must have been a bit of a special moment for him.

My daughter and I were in a car accident two weeks ago. My car was totaled by the at-fault driver, and we were in a good amount of pain. My s/o (in law enforcement) was on scene about an hour and a half away. My family all live 7+ hours away. S/O called his dad, who was on the scene before we left in the ambulance, and was in the ER with us at the hospital, ensuring we were receiving the best of care. FFIL holds a leadership position with the hospital and had stepped out of important meetings to check on us, and had his wife come up to take us to the pharmacy, grab dinner, etc. super sweet!

Before DH and I were engaged, but had been dating for years, we went to a wedding for a friend of his family. When the bride and her father invited other father-daughter couples to join them on the dance floor, my FIL (then unofficially FFIL) asked me to dance. It was so sweet!
