Congratulations! Getting past the 5K mark is such a huge accomplishment-- now you'll get addicted! I LOVE running (I ran my first marathon last year). It's such a great stress reliever and a great way to stay in shape! Good luck with your future races!
Wow congrats!! How did you work up to that endurance level? I can go for days on cardio machines, but when it comes to running outside I can hardly run two blocks without feeling like I'm going to pass out :(
I did my first one in February. Congratulations. Doesn't it feel amazing. I am running another one in May. Keep up with the running.
Big congrats! That is really awesome. Very respectable time, I might add.
Careful...the running bug has got you. I remember my first 5k...I agreed to do it to help a friend. She didn't show. It was cold. I cursed most of the way and was so pissed about it. Then I crossed the finish line under my goal time and declared that it was awesome and I couldn't wait to do it again. Six months later I signed up for a marathon and the rest is history.
Yay! I'm on W3D2 of C25K and my first 5K is June 5! Ahhh I am so excited, and I did exactly what you are thinking about, ditched my $30 gym membership. Way to go! Great job!
Congrats! I'm doing couch to 5k (just like Kingcake) and my goal is to actually get out there and run one-- even though I hate running, I love doing the program, and even more than that, I love what it's doing to my body! I can't wait to run one-- congrats again!!!
congrats!! That's just great! I know the feeling: I started running at the end of last summer and it was awesome the first time I got to ran 5 K. Running becomes so addictive!
I'm actually running my first 5K race on Sunday. Wish me luck :)
Congrats! I, too, just finished my first 5k - 2 weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised to actually run the entire thing, AND finish in a reasonable time! I'm continuing to run on the treadmill but there's something about the cheering people on the running route that pushed me to run better/faster - 'cause now I'm having trouble running 2 miles - let alone 3. But I'm determined to do another one in June....
Good luck @kingcake & @pekoe2!
Congrats! I just finished my second half marathon and I'm running the NYC marathon in 2011.
I have a 4-mile on Sunday...hoping to set a new personal record.
Congrats! And great time for your first 5K! Everyone on here is so right...once you finish your first 5K, you just want to run more and it's so addicting! Good luck in your future running, and to all of the other bees who are striving towards something!

A month ago I couldn't even run a mile. I finished my first 5K yesterday morning in 35:30 which was a personal best, and only the 3rd time I had ever run 3 consecutive miles. :) YEAH! GO ME!
Anyone else just finished their first 5k or half? How did it go? Anyone gearing up for a race? I am thinking of ditching my $30 gym membership and doing a 5k or 10k every month for $30! That way I would be running for a good cause and not feeding money to some fat-walleted CEO! :)
