Crossing fingers for your appointment today.  Thinking of you, my onliest babiest daughter.

    Love,
    ::daddy

How friggin cute is my Dad? Seriously. He is SO excited to be a grandpa and knows that I'm nervous about everything since it's so early (I'm only 6 weeks) and this is the sweetest thing I could have asked for. :) I just thought I'd share.

@CanadianMermaid: Aww :) hehe, well my dad is a computer scientest by trade so if he couldn't email, he'd be in real trouble! :)

I just love that man though, he and I are so close and I can't lie, this hormonal lady might be tearing up at her desk over that email :)

Awww that's so sweet!!! My dad has always called me Shortcake, or Baby Shortcake. I will forever be that little girl who used to beg to sit on his shoulders and get thrown into the air (my dad is 6'9!). One of my all time favorite things when I was younger - we would be in the pool and I would beg my dad to throw me up, he would and then I would squeal something fierce the whole time, drop back into the pool, surface and beg for more. My husband is convinced that anytime my dad sees me, he sees that little tiny girl and not the grown woman in front of him :)

@KansasPrincess11: yup, I am a true daddy's girl. We would always grocery shop with our parents, and if they split up, my dad would always put me on his shoulders so I could look over the aisles to find my mom. I would yell, "there's mommy!!" and point, and you should have seen some of the expressions on people's faces, seeing this tiny girl looking at them over the aisles! And my mom would look up and wave and laugh and yell "you found me!". People probably thought we were nuts, but it was awesome. Me and my brother would fight over who got to find our mom. I'm sure my parents did it on purpose, just for us :)

@MrsSl82be: That is such a cute story about the grocery shopping - I love it!!!!

In the spirit of the daddy-daughter love I am going to post one of my favourite pics from our wedding day. This was the first time I was seeing my dad on my wedding day. Not only does my dad still see me as his little girl - I apparently still act that way around him!!!! This was my response to "Are you excited?"

My first appointment is today and I just got this email... : wedding DCW 113

@Future Mrs. Martin: OMG I love that picture!!! I was SO upset, my dad snuck downstairs while I was getting to the theater where DH and I had our first look and he saw me and the photographers were upstairs getting our first look ready, I yelled at him (SO calmly) "DADDY NO! WE NEED A FIRST LOOK! GO AWAY!" and he was like "That's gibberish to me, all I know is you're my onliest babiest daughter and you're getting married, and I'm getting a hug" haha! We don't have a picture like that, but I do have the memory, can't complain there, right? :)

@MrsSl82be: That is SUCH a cute story, love it!!

My appointment went well! The dr said everything looks good down in ladyville and they took a bunch of blood. My dr said they've figured out how to get an early u/s without us having to shell out the $ for it, they say there's a concern of some kind this early and that viability is a concern and the insurance company just shells it out! So Tuesday I'll go in and we get to have our first u/s!!!! :D DH will be out of class by then so he'll get to go with me, OMG I just can't believe it! I was terrified we'd have to wait until 12 weeks!

@KansasPrincess11: I'm not even hormonal and that email made me tear up, your dad is so cute! You guys must have such a great relationship!

I don't have any specific stories, but I'm definitely a daddy's girl! He's always doted over me whenever I was sick and the first time I got sick after moving out and DH wasn't really offering anything to me, I got so upset and just wanted to be back at my dad's so he could take care of me haha! (I'm 24 and this was only last year)

@middleschoolsweethearts: Haha! YES! That totally sounds like me! When I was 25 I did the SAME EXACT THING!!! I even made my dad drive me to the doctor LOL...poor man.

I'll try to remember to upload a picture of he and I during our dance from the W, he sang the whole song to me, every time I hear it I cry!

I was so tempted to say "But I can SEE the u/s tech, she's right behind you. And not with anyone. Can't she just see me NOW?!" But I was a good little patient and took what appointment they could give me ;)

My relationship with my Dad was weird growing up, but now it is so much better.  It was a case where he really is happier once he split from my Mom (they both are), and now, he feels like my Dad.

However, he technically is my stepdad, even though he's the only Dad I've ever known (been with me since I was 5 weeks old.)

So when I told him I was pregnant, first he said "Does this mean your baby is going to be really fat?"  (My biological Dad was morbidly obese) and then immediately after he said "I'm getting a grandbaby!  Do you think he'll look like me?"  Which...um...I'd be SUPER SURPRISED if he did...

But he calls before every appointment, and after (often before I've even left the doctor) to see how it went.  I never feel like he doesn't consider this baby his grandchild in every way, and it's really pretty awesome.

@Quietserenity: That is a lovely story, thank you for sharing!! :) My dad and I weren't close for a long time either, it wasn't until I was in my senior year of high school/freshman year of college that we started to get close. Now, I talk to him every single day and my mom and I only talk once a week or so!

That is SO cute!!  Dads are so adorable about this stuff!  My dad keeps checking on me like "you're not working too hard, right" or "don't work out" or "make sure to drink more gatorade!"   He's not going to be grandpa, though.  He's "Buck" according to my baby nieces.  He tried to go by grandpa and ended up with Buck : )

My Dad is being super cute about all of it, too.  I'm his oldest and this will be his first grand-baby.  The only hard part is that he lives far away in Louisiana.  He sent me a text message a couple of days after I told him that said "I am really very excited, and I know I don't need to tell you but be sure to take extra good care of yourself now!".  Later in a phone conversation said "So are you going to have a natural birth?  That's so great" and "Are you going to breastfeed?  It's so much better for you and it's the best for the baby".  He is a GREAT Dad, so I expect that he will be a wonderful Grandpa, too!
