I don't see the picture, but what's this about a penny in the water? I haven't heard of that before.
I think it looks really good! Great job!
I found this link about tip on keeping fresh flowers alive...sounds like you know most of them, but I thought it was helpful.

The copper that dissolves from the penny somehow has an effect on the tulips and keeps them up a little longer. That was a tip I got from a florist.
I LOVE IT! It looks like it was professionally done! It just goes to show that with a little creativity, you saved yourself a TON of money!
I love it so much - in fact - I will save this photo and show it to m florist, I think this is how I want my bridesmaids bouques to look like!
That looks amazing!! It just goes to show how you can add your own personal touch and make it look just as good as a professional!
these are cute! great job! doing the flowers yourself does save money! are you planning on doing all the arrangements the night before?
I LOVE IT! I totally want to do my own flowers as well (being from LA and having the flower district right here) and keep hearing from certain people that it will look cheesy - but I am going to show them your picture and say "HA!" It really does look professional!
Can I ask a few questions - so, you ended up wiring the tulip stems? Was it very difficult? was there a site that had good directions for you? Also, did you buy mixed bouquets or single flowers bouquets and put them together yourself? Will you also be doing bouquets? That is the scariest part for me...
Congrats! Your centerpieces are too lover-ly!
i think this came out great!
i'd love to see it in a clear vase, but if the creme is part of your color scheme, then i think you've nailed it and can check this off of the list of things to do!
;)
I could have never ever known that this was not proffesionally done. Absolutely perfect! And just overall beautiful.
I'm impressed with your flower arranging abilities! I think they look lovely - if you're happy with it, I'd say go for it!
No. I leave the ceremony arrangements up to the florist. I may still do the bouquets though. I already bought floral tape and floral pins and ribbon just in case. I was thinking about buying some backup flowers in case I happen not to like the bouquets that way I can still alter them to my taste.
I prefer to spray the vase since I like the ribbon look. If you do it in a clear vase I would recommend to use a big leaf to cover the vase inside otherwise it may not look as nice as all the different stems in different shapes and sizes would look too busy.
As for this arrangement I did not wire the stems. You would only need it if you have really high tulip arrangements e.g. if you are using french tulips that stick way out of your vase. This one is fine. I just put a penny inside and the tulips are still up and it has been over 18 hours. I was also thinking about adding a personal touch to it by putting my self designed label with our names and wedding date on top of the ribbon.
Those are great! You should be very proud of yourself. You went to the Flowermart didn't you? I hate downtown L.A., but I love the Flowermart. Something about being in there makes me feel like I create arrangements. I can't though....but I just like the feeling!
Yep the flowers are from the Flowermart and yes I am thinking about arranging the flowers the night before. With a little help here and there I do think that it is doable.

Due to the fact that the centerpieces that we had in mind have high tulips who tend to bend over time I decided to give it a shot and make a centerpiece myself. The inital centerpiece would go into foam and the only way to prevent the tulips from bending is to use wire or a penny that is placed into the water which doesn't work since it is placed into foam. So for my trial run below I spend roughly 17 USD. I bought a cheap vase, sprayed it off white, put the green ribbon around it and bought the flowers from a wholesale place in downtown LA for little money. I spend about 15 minutes arranging the flowers. What do you think?
