My e-shoot is coming up pretty soon and I wanted to get makeup for my face. I’m clueless about foundation so my Bridesmaid or Best Man and I headed over to MAC. I’ve never bought anything from them, or any other high brand, so I was excited. I’m still on the fence on whether I want to get my makeup professionally done, especially since we’re having a destination wedding. But if I practice and become good at it, hey that’s more money I can save for something else! Furthermore, I can see how my DIY look will turn out in the e-pictures.
So the MAC artist put on me primer, concealer, foundation, powder, a cream blush and finishing spray. We were going for a light, natural look to even out my skin and cover the blemishes. I bought the primer, concealer and foundation. BM and I then headed to Ulta where I got a BAD gal liner waterproof in extra black and Urban Decay’s eye primer. At home, I did my eye makeup with those two and Physician’s Formula Baked Sands from the Baked Collection, but this look is for the wedding, I may go lighter for the e-shoot. I wore the look for a few hours to see how long it lasted. I think I may have to touch up on the powder, just a little, and the finishing spray is a bit oily or it could just be my combination skin. But otherwise, I am pleased with it.
I apologize for the horror that is my Before pic. I had just gotten out of the shower and only had moisturizer on 🙂 But, what do you think?

if you have oily skin, get MAC’s mattifying gel. It’s silicone based and non greasy. It is a life-saver for me and my oily skin! it goes on before you apply your foundation.

Looks great! Natural, but seems to make your skin more even in color. Are you wearing blush too? It’s looks great and very natural.

I think it looks great! You still look like yourself–it doesn’t seem overdone, like I sometimes see when MAC artists do makeup.
Also, if you live near a CVS, they’re doing 40% off Physician’s Formula right now 🙂

@ktisthatbees: I can’t seem to find that gel on the MAC website. Does it do the same thing as the finishing spray?
@minie77: Yes, the artist put a light pink blush on me. I don’t mind that it’s so light, because I think I want my freckles to show 🙂

Your skin looks so nice and even. I think you did an awesome job matching skin tone to foundation color.

Wow! You did a great job… your skin looks flawless! I’m totally clueless about foundation (and make up for that matter), but you’ve totally inspired me to go give it a whirl.

You look beautiful! I thought I heard that a lot of people break out from MAC foundations. But I also had a girl do my makeup that swore by it! So, maybe it just depends on your skin type. I loved the skinfinish powder after I bought it a couple of years ago, but it broke me out pretty bad. I still tried using it every once in a while because I loved it, but it happened every time. Boo! I use Makeup Forever foundation now.

Wow you look amazing & this totally reminds me that I need to go buy a new foundation for myself. I’m seriously considering trying MAC now.
